Pros: complex scent, lovely shower gel, nice bubble bath
Cons: scent may not appeal to all, not a great shampoo
The Bottom Line: Philosophy's Blackberry Sauce 3-in-1 is an admirable shower gel and bubble bath. It's not a great shampoo, however.

I don't know about all of you, but here in my neck of the woods, I don't like to pay full price for anything. I like sales. I like markdowns. I especially like clearance. Even more, I like sales on clearance items. That doesn't always work out but I felt like I ended up with a bargain at my local Marshall's a few weeks back when I found a small armful of Philosophy 3-in-1 16 ounce shampoo/bubble bath and shower gel bottles for $7 each. Considering that the Philosophy web site recently ran a special for $11 a bottle if you bought three and the regular price is $16, I felt that I made a great buy, even if I ended up with a scent or two I didn't care for all that much.
The scent of Blackberry Sauce is pretty spot on for the recipe printed on the label. In addition to the blackberries, the framboise and lemon are easy to pick out. Don't expect fresh picked blackberries because that's not what you're getting. Instead, it's a more sophisticated scent that doesn't just hit you over the head.
Philosophy's Blackberry Sauce is a 3-in-1 which means it can be used as a shampoo, a body wash and a bubble bath. Personally, I don't ever use 3-in-1 products as a shampoo because past experience has proven sister products to be drying, tangling and often color stripping. As I spend a lot of money on covering up the gray every year, I tend to stick to a few shampoos and conditioners my stylist has recommended. As a body wash, Blackberry Sauce does a kick-butt job of making heaps 'o fluffy white bubbles using a wash cloth, or a shower pouf or even bare hands. I also like this lavender gel as a bubble bath although I can see why many might not. It takes a lot of product to make a lot of bubbles but I use Blackberry Sauce more for the aromatherapy experience than for bubbles. I squeeze a dollop of gel underneath hot running water. This released the scent and makes soaking in the tub while reading a book very enjoyable. Having fewer bubbles makes the bath better in this case as bubbles are insulating so I can stay in longer with Philosophy.
I find that Blackberry Sauce rinses cleanly and doesn't dry out or irritate my sensitive skin. Be forewarned that it is not very moisturizing. I also consider it a huge plus that the scent doesn't linger on the skin. It's strong and fun in the shower or tub but then it does not overstay its welcome.
Blackberry Sauce is a scent that I think would appeal to most people. It's fruity but not overpowering. It has a complexity to it that keeps it from quickly becoming bored. It probably wouldn't be my first choice for a gift for a person I did not know well, but it's one that I'm glad to have brought into my home.
