| bops_mom's Full Review: Philosophy Green Apple Lip Shine |
When Philosophy (user name lovephilosophy) announced on Twitter that they were coming out with an Apricots and Cream scent they also announced they were coming out with a Green Apple scent. Things with an apple scent tend to be my favorites ever – second possibly only to cinnamon so I could not wait to try the green apple scented anything! Since Philosophy’s 3-in-1’s don’t agree with my skin I knew I would end up with the lip shine – which happen to be one of my all time favorite lip products. Product Information Philosophy’s Very Emollient Flavored Green Apple Lip Shine is packaged in a clear plastic squeeze tube with twist off black cap. The tube holds 0.5 ounce of product and sells for around $12. All of this is typical of Philosophy’s Lip Shines. My Experience This is another product I ordered online since my local Macy’s did not have it in stock (the Philosophy counter there only carries a small number of Philosophy’s product line). Online the shade looks to be a very pale mint green with possibly some shimmer. In person the color is rather cool to look at. In the tube it looks to be the same shade as a glow stick that hasn’t been broken yet – that almost florescent day glow pale green color. I would love to see under black light, I'm sure it will glow. There is a lot of sparkle in this lip shine – lots of noticeable flecks of green and gold glitter. On my pigmented lips Philosophy’s Green Apple Lip Shine goes on clear with green and golden shimmer/sparkle and plenty of shine. I really can’t see this product not looking clear on anyone no matter what their natural lip color happens to be. Because it’s clear I like to wear it alone on no to minimal makeup days or over a lip color on full makeup days. The glitter may be too much for some people, but since it’s not crazy over the top I enjoy it. It’s something fun and different from what I usually wear on my lips. As with all of Philosophy’s Lip Shine’s I’ve found Philosophy’s Green Apple Lip Shine to be very moisturizing on my lips. Philosophy calls their lip shines “very emollient” and I have to agree with them. The hydrating properties are as good as any lip balm or lip product I’ve ever tried. It’s not a sticky lip product it feels very smooth on the lips and as long as you don’t apply too much it isn’t too thick. If you enjoy the scent of green apples – like a mix between a tart/sour and sweet green apple you’ll love Philosophy’s Green Apple Lip Shine. I adore the smell! It is very close to Jolly Rancher’s Green Apple scent/flavor which is a favorite of mine from my childhood. The wear of Philosophy’s Green Apple Lip Shine is typical of most gloss type products. If I’m not talking/eating/drinking (for example, I’m sleeping hahahaha) it seems to last 5-6 hours. If I am doing those things it lasts between 30 and 90 minutes. And so For me, Philosophy’s Green Apple Lip Shine is a huge, huge winner. I like that it adds some sparkly glitter to my lips without making me look like I’m going to a rave. I adore the scent which is only second to how much I love how it leaves my lips feeling hydrated. If you’re a fan of green apple scents or flavors and Philosophy’s Green Apple Lip Shine sounds like a product you’d enjoy give it a try! I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
