I am not a lip balm addict only because the choices used to be Blistex, Carmex, Chapstick, and Vaseline. Not a fan of any of them in particular, I used them out of pure necessity. Now the field is wide open and I find myself embracing Philosophy’s kiss me and Benefit’s Smoooch.
Philosophy’s kiss me comes in a little potted jar of balm which is more like a Vaseline in texture due to the petrolatum and less like a wax. Its sole purpose is to condition your lips and keep them hydrated. It does leave a very sheer shine or gloss but not sticky like some gloss brands. It doesn’t last all day and will need reapplication, which should thrill any lip balm addict or lip licker. If you like to chew your lips this may be the perfect remedy, too.
Kiss me comes in two colors, clear or red (sheer tint). I have the clear and use it once or twice a day as a moisturizer not as a natural “lipstick” in my makeup routine.
It contains vitamin e, kiwi, and sweet almond oil. all ingredients that contribute toward Philosophy’s claim of:
kiss me is a super-emollient lip balm for soft supple world-class lips Ok, I can buy into that as I would like to believe my lips qualify as world-class. Soft and supple, most definitely.
Full ingredient list for those with any skin sensitivities:
hydroxylated lanolin, petrolatum, steareth-2, squalane (olive oil derived), fragrance, alcloxa, tocopheryl acetate (vitamin e), actinidia chinensis (kiwi) seed oil, prunus amygdalus dulcis (sweet almond) oil, ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, propylparaben
butylparaben,d&c red no.33
Ingredient notes:
• First and main ingredient Hydroxylated Lanolin is a skin conditioner
• Vitamin E – soothes and smoothes dry skin, can reduce scarring. Highly recommended natural moisturizer.
• Kiwi Oil is known for its emolliency or hydrating qualities, it is also high in vitamin C.
• Sweet Almond Oil is also known for its hydrating and emolliency benefits, other benefits include: anti-inflammation and it’s gentle enough for baby skin or sensitive, dry skin
There is a light citrus fragrance that may be a result of the Kiwi oil. I find the scent much more comforting than a plain old jar of Vaseline and it is much more attractively packaged. It comes in an opaque plastic jar with a black screw-top lid. The jar is packaged in Philosophy’s signature simple black and white box packaging with a little philosophical ditty included on the box/jar. kiss me’s is philosophy: the road to intimacy is lots of kissing. Okie doke, sounds good.
While I stated I was not a lip balm addict there are many out there that are and this just might be the product that satisfies the “dip and rub” craving. For $10 this offers great value with all the added natural ingredients.
