| smh32775's Full Review: Philosophy Purity |
After seeing all the hoopla about Philosophy products on Epinions and the "infomercials" on QVC, I finally gave in and purchased my first Philosophy product. With my new found obsession with trying to keep my skin as wrinkle free as possible, I started my Philosophy collection with Real Purity.
What is real purity?
Real Purity is a "one step facial cleanser". The product promises to deep clean pores while doubling as a make up remover. It contains natural oils which are said to condition the skin while dissolving subsurface agents on contact.
The pure truth
Real Purity comes in a 16oz white bottle with a black flip open dispensing lid. The label of the product, like all Philosophy products, contains a cute "definition". Purity says
Purity is natural, we come into this world with all the right instincts. we are innocent, and therefore perceive things as they should be, rather than how they are. our conscience is clear, our hands are clean, and the world at large is truly beautiful. it is at this time we feel more blessed. to begin feeling young again, we must begin with the most basic step of all; the daily ritual of cleaning.
The smell is kind of funky, it reminds of an old lady bathroom. You know the kind that is a mix of moth balls and generic rose water. I'm not real keen on the scent but it dissolves almost immediatly so it's not a huge issue.
To use real purity, just add water to the "man juice" (sorry, but its the first thing I thought of when I saw it) color/textured liquid. Although it can be used as a make up remover, I use a separate make up remover before using purity.
How Pure is it?
Purity does a good job at cleansing the skin. It's very mild so I still have to use a separate exfoliator several times a week. Due to the harsh Arizona sun and heat, my skin is often pretty dry and Purity leaves it feeling softer and hydrated.
I have not experienced any negative effects from using Purity. My skin seems to be fine with it. I can't say that Purity would make a great make up remover since it is so gentle but strictly as a facial cleaner, it does a good job.
Made of..
water, disodium lauroamphodiacetate, limnanthes, alba (meadowfoam), seed oil, coco-glucoside, peg-120 methyl glucose dioleate, aniba rosaeodora (rosewood), wood-oil,guaiacrum offcinale, cymbopogon martini oil, rosa diamascena extract, amyris balsamifera bark oil, santalum album (sandalwood),salvia officinalis (sage)oil, cinnamomum cassia leaf oil, anthemis robilis fkiwer oil, daucus carota sativa (carrot) seed oil, piper nigrum (black pepper)seed extract, sodium trideceth sulfate, hexylene glycol, cocos nucifera (coconut) alcohol, polysorbate 20,glycerin, carbomer, triethanolamine, methylparaben, propylparaben, imidiazolidinyl urea, and yellow 5.
A repeat performer?
I definitely have gotten hooked on Philosophy products and have since purchased several other items. As far as real purity is concerned, I will probably finish out this bottle and then try something else but I would recommend those with dry skin or who need just a light cleanser to try Real Purity.
Philosophy products can be purchased at Sephora, QVC, Drugstore.com and through philosophy.com
