What This Is
This is yet another, shower gel product from Philosophy - Well Balanced is what they call it. Unlike some of the other shower gels, it isn't a 3-in-1 product. This is a good thing (from my perspective) because I'm still stuck under the notion that everything has one purpose in life :).
Philosophy's Well Balanced Shower Gel comes in a 16 ounce, brown-colored bottle, with a black, flip-top cap. The product is the grossest color of brown-orange that I have ever seen and the accompanying strong scent causes some of my friends to want to barf. They think it smells like a hospital (all medicinal). I think it has a strong peppermint/ginger smell.
As a sidenote, once you get down to only having 1/4 of the product left, it's best if you keep it tilted downwards while not in use (keep lid closed of course), so that the product stays close to the opening. Otherwise, you're going to have to squeeze the heck out of the bottle next time you try to use it.
Promises, Promises
* Highly Invigorating.
* Unique cleansing formula.
* Unique scent for stimulating your senses.
* Contains apple cider to maintain healthy skin.
* Leaves your skin feeling fresh.
Directions
This is what they say, this shower gel is formulated as an all-over body wash. apply generously to a wet body. lather and massage to your delight. rinse thoroughly. the benefits of this excellent detoxifying formula can be enhanced by using it in combination with an exfoliating brush or mitt.
I must giggle now as delight certainly takes on an interesting perspective now that I've used the product.
But Really
Here's how their five promises measure up.
Highly Invigorating
Eh. I assume that to become invigorated (and most definitely - HIGHLY), it would need to touch two parts of me. First, from the scent perspective. Second, from the how my skin feels perspective.
The smell, once you get over its initial, strong scent, does seem to open those sinuses up and for a few minutes, it's nice. Either I got used to the scent quickly or it does fade pretty quickly.
My skin doesn't really feel any better or worse after using it. The only invigoration part happens when the scrubbing goes below the belt and honestly, this was an accidental discovery. I was scrubbing and normally, I lather up all of my body parts ahem. Imagine my surprise when the shower gel did more than I had anticipated.
Let's just say that it was an added bonus. And that's probably a good thing since this bottle cost so darned much.
Unique Cleansing Formula
Eh. I didn't feel any cleaner.
Unique Scent For Stimulating Your Senses
See highly invigorating.
Contains Apple Cider to Maintain Healthy Skin
Sure. Okay. I didn't think Diet Coke would do it.
Leaves Your Skin Feeling Fresh
Eh. I guess - fresh as opposed to stale? My skin felt fine but it's not like I was ready to declare myself 21 again. Maybe they say this to indicate that the brown-orange goop rinses off easily. And yes, it does.
The End
Y'all know that I love Philosophy's products however, the Well Balanced shower gel isn't one of their best products. In fact, Kiss My Face has a much cheaper and probably more effective version - Anti-Stress Soul Soothing Shower Gel & Foaming Bath. It's under $10 and delivers that - clean your sinuses out - perspective, that you might be looking for in a shower gel.

philosophy®:
your morning shower is a glorious opportunity to detoxify. as you cleanse your body, use this time to breathe deeply and rhythmically. recite your affirmations: i am secure, i feel healthy, i know the answers, i love myself, i express the truth, i see with my eyes closed, i trust each moment. most importantly the detox diet starts now. lose negative people, places, habits, conversations and news.
