Pros: Great food and great atmosphere
Cons: It isn't next door to my house... that's about the only thing that could make it better.

| drbrown's Full Review: Pho Pasteur |
It was only this summer that I stumbled upon this fantastic restaurant... They truly have the best bowl of pho (Vietnamese beef noodle soup)in Chinatown...
Additionally, I love the atmosphere, because it is authentic Asian... if you go alone, expect to sit with some strangers -- a great opportunity to get to know new people...
You may wait a few minutes in the doorway for a seat, but it is worth the wait... just ask yourself a simple question... If there are 3 other restaurants selling the same food within a 30 second walk of this restaurant, why are they practically empty and this one is bustling?
If you prefer not to wait, Pho Pasteur has another restaurant just around the corner on Kneeland Street (about a 5 minute walk), but I haven't tried this one yet, because I love the one on Washington Street too much...
Food:
The food here is absolutely delicious... I like to stick with my favorites so I haven't tried to many things off the menu, but the "pho tai" is excellent... the steamed spring rolls and chicken with lemon grass are also great... you must enjoy your meal with a glass of fresh limeade...
Service:
As is typical of Vietnamese restaurants, the service is extremely friendly...
Decor:
I don't really notice the decor, but as I said, the atmosphere as a whole is awesome... rather than say, like some, that it is worth eating in the small restaurant because the food is great, the bustling, crowded atmosphere is one of my favorite things about the restaurant... don't plan on having a business meeting here though...
Special Notes, Tips or Menu Recommendations:
If you order pho for the first time, don't be shy... ask the waiter/waitress how to properly eat it... if you are too shy, simply remember this: add the vegetables they give you to the bowl, add a chili pepper (don't eat it), squeeze in some lime, and quickly stir it around to get the beef thoroughly cooked...
