Literally. It stinks. End of review.

I can see your fingers hovering over the NH button so instead of repeating "It stinks" to achieve 100 words, I will attempt to describe the other feelings I had upon use of this shampoo, keeping in mind that I was feeling a little faint over the odor emanating from my head.

The Smell?

I have wavy hair that I straighten daily so anything to help me tame it will be my best friend. I purchased the Shampoo, Conditioner, and Lotion from Physique.

When I popped open the flip top lid on the shampoo the next morning in the shower, I was blown away by the smell. It's a strong chemically, headache inducing nastiness. I'm not quite sure what it's supposed to be. Maybe apple? When combined with the conditioner and lotion, the smell lingered. Ugh.

I do realize that scent is a subjective thing and that others may not be as offended.

The Ingredients

I won't list all ingredients except for the two main cleansing agents, Ammonium Laureth Sulfate and Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate. These two ingredients are among the harshest detergents found in shampoos. Physique attempts to place itself as a salon type product at a drugstore price. However these detergents are not the more gentle ingredients typically found in salon products, and I find it to be nothing more than a high priced drug store product. I like to look for Sodium Laureth Sulfate in shampoos

Because of the harshness of the ingredients, I would not recommend this for anyone with dry hair, dry scalp, or color treated hair.

My Experiences

I did like how the shampoo lathered well and rinsed out easily. It’s difficult to review a shampoo alone because I use other products but I did use the Physique products in combination. My hair did dry relatively straight and look sleek. However I can achieve that look through better products. My hair felt very dry on the ends and my scalp was itchy.

Price

At $7-$8 for 10.2 oz, this product is in the same price range as many salon brand shampoos. I have a same sized bottle of Redken All-Soft, a much nicer and more gentle product, that was only $8.
