| Magick1's Full Review: Pillsbury Moist Supreme Devil's Food Cake Mix |
I was writing earlier about eating healthier, trying to cut back on sodium, junk food and eating less processed food. Well, the will power just isn’t that strong when you look in your cupboard and you see the cute little Pillsbury Dough Boy look back at you from a delicious slice of chocolate cake and essentially offering you a piece of this. (He is really standing there holding up a forkful towards you…see advertising does work!)
The Product
Preparation is truly a cinch! You mix in water, oil and 3 eggs, beat it for 2 minutes with either a spoon or a mixer. I was letting the babester help, as she loves to help make cakes and cookies. Since she’s almost 6, she is still not allowed to get into the oven to put cakes and cookies in, but the preparation is so easy, she gets to do most of the prep work herself with a little helper!
I usually use the mixer because it truly seems to make the batter fluffier and it makes the cakes seem moister. That’s likely my imagination, but it seems to lift higher in the pan when I mix it up this way. Baking takes roughly 30 minutes (give or take depending on your oven and the type of pan you use). I use a glass pan and use my convection oven setting and I cut the baking time down roughly 10 minutes and start checking the cake. Glad I did this, as this was ready 10 minutes early. It turned out perfectly.
We had the frosting to top the cake off after it had cooled down quite a bit and the glass pan was cool to the touch. The babester loved decorating it. We had this just because. There was no special occasion. It was in the cabinet, we had the ingredients needed, and we had a project. Also, we are on “spring break” right now, none of the family has karate this week and we are experiencing a week’s worth of at home time that has been absolutely wonderful.

Since nutritional facts can vary by the items that you use in your cake, I will not go into that here whatsoever. But, you can certainly review it on the box. They provide the mix information and the baked details for you to compare!
This product is distributed by the J.M. Smucker Company, Orrville OH.
Overall Impressions
If you need a delicious chocolate cake that is moist and wonderful and quick and easy to prepare, this should be one to check out. This box makes a 13 x 9 pan or they provide details about rounds or cupcakes that you can make too.
The flavor is wonderful and it’s greatly accompanied by the same brand and type of frosting and it is luscious! If you have a special event coming up or just want to see your friends or family smile, whip up a cake! You’ll definitely satisfy your sweet tooth.
