| strategery's Full Review: Ping Eye 2 Irons |
Karsten Solheim founded Ping Golf. His son,John, now runs this innovative company. The Solheims are great innovators in golf club development. I first became familiar with their products when I switched to the Ping Anser putter. This putter is fantastic. It gives a distinct "ping" when you strike the golf ball with the putter's sweet spot. I really love their putter. So,when I had the chance to try out a set of Ping Eye2 irons, I had high expectations.
In the Ping Eye2 irons, Karsten engineers have created a "high moment of inertia". This bit of engineering enables the club to resist twisting on off center hits. The irons are designed with extreme perimeter weighting. This makes for a more forgiving golf club.
I believe Ping succeeds at this. However, I found that with the longer irons, I could not get the length I wanted. I didn't like the feedback when I struck the ball. I like playing with cavity backs, but I just felt that these clubs had taken the concept too far.
A lot of people like these irons. I had hear a lot of favorable comments. I was disappointed. I feel like you can get as good a set of irons for less money.
