Pros: Good feel, good distance
Cons: less control
The Bottom Line: I would buy these irons, but I personally am a fan of most Ping products.

| HonkKongHal's Full Review: Ping i3 Series Irons |
The Ping I3's are a pretty good set of irons. I just bought them and have only played around 7 rounds with them, but I like them more than my Tommy Armour 845's that I had previously. They have great feel and great feedback and the distance I was hitting them was great, although I lacked some control with the added distance. Also, they look pretty cool and are a lovely addition to any golfer's bag who cares about their external appearance....just kidding.
I am a 9 handicap and I could hit a 5 iron around 175 with my old irons. Now either I'm getting stronger (which I most certainly am, haha) or these irons had added significant distance to my shots. I am now consistently hitting the ball about ten yards further than I could with the 845's. Still, I feel with more work I can gain the control I once had. The control was one aspect of the Tommy Armour's that I enjoyed above any other kind of club. Otherwise these are great irons.
Also, at this point in my career, the feel that comes with the club. It's extremely important to me and truly helps me become a better golfer by knowing how I'm striking the ball. These irons are great for that. Their feel is far superior to that of the Tommy Armour's.
I also enjoy the steel shafted, because I feel unless you are a senior, there is no reason to have graphite shafted irons. I personally have always liked steel shafts better than graphite, for the feel and I simply hit them better.
The price is somewhat outrageous, though, and $800 for 3-PW, but in this day and age, it is not unusual to pay that much for a set of irons.
