Cons:non detachable face

The Bottom Line: If you want a nice aftermarket radio with expanability features and comes at a great price. This deck is for you!

Well, I install radios daily for a living. I have been installing the Pioneers like crazy and extensively testing them out and checking all of their features. So to start out ill break down the features of this deck and explain what they mean.

Supertuner III
24-Station/6-Button (18FM / 6AM) Presets

This one is basically self explanatory. You have your 6 buttons on the bottom of the deck for station memory. when you press the band button the radio will switch to another mode and those 6 buttons are now memory for 6 more stations and you can repeat that once more. That's why its called super tuner III and you see it says 18 FM. So you can have 18 saved FM channels.

BSM (Best Station Memory)

basically this will search all of the radio stations the unit can receive and put them into the memory ( buttons 1-6)
and put the highest signal ones first

CD:
Track Scan
Pause
Repeat
Random Play

These are the features while playing a CD the unit can do.

Playback Compatible with Digital Audio CD-R (when disc is finalized)

This feature is for you people who like to burn your own music. Some CD players on the market cant read burned CDs. Well, pioneer took care of that and now all of their units can read a FINISHED CD. Finalized means that when your making a CD your program needs to finish it. You cant burn some songs on then finish it later.

45Wx4 - 4-Channel High Power

This is your power rating on the deck. But it is somewhat misleading as is EVERY other head unit manufacture. This 45 watt rating is actually a peak rating and will in reality put out around 20 watts rms ( maybe a little less )

EEQ Performance Chip:
3-Band Equalizer
Easy EQ (EEQ) switches 5 Factory, 1 User EQ Presets (Super Bass, Powerful, Natural, Vocal, Flat, Custom)
Source Custom EQ Memory (Independent Custom Memory for each source)
Selectable Loudness Control (Low/Mid/High/Off)
Selectable FIE (Front Image Enhancer)

This is one reason this deck rocks. Easy EQ is very simple to use you simple push on a button and it changes these settings. Super bass would boost your bass up, Powerful will boost most of the sound up, Natural will take away a lot of the bass and give you a lot more vocals, Vocal will take away almost all of the bass and give you a lot of voice, Flat will make the bass mid and treble be flat ( in the middle)Custom is what you set it to be, you can set your bass mid and treble how you like it.

Source Custom Memory is where when your playing a CD and set the bass mid and treble it remembers those settings and when you have the radio on you set those settings too. Since we all know the radios sound quality is not very good compared to a CD this is quite useful you can boost the sound while on radio mode and when you hit CD it plays it with your CD settings which are not as boosted.

Selectable Loudness Control

You can boost your sound in levels with this, I do not recommend using loudness on any head unit with normal speakers. The loudness on almost every deck on the market will end up causing speaker failure.

Selectable Front Image Enhancer

What this lets you do is set the front speakers to play all of the voices etc and the rear speakers only play bass. A good time to use this is if you are using stock speakers. Most vehicles have 6x9in speakers in the rear. They can play the bass a lot better than your front speakers so you'll get better sound out of the system this way.

Selectable Fader Control

this lets you fade from the front speakers to the rear. so say the kids are in the car you can fade the speakers so they play in the rear only or on the front only etc. you can also fade it to the sides ( balance ) so you can play just the front left speaker or the rear right speaker

RCA Preouts (x1 pair) (2 V)

This connection allows you to add an external amplifier. It would most likely be used to add a subwoofer to the cars stereo system. 2 volts is a power rating of how much power the rca line feeds to the amp. 2 Volts is almost the standard on all radios.

Fixed faceplate

yes, this means that the face is NOT removable.

Liquid Crystal Display with White LED backlight

This is the type of screen the unit has.

So all in all this unit has great features and wont burn a huge hole in your wallet
