Pros: Great sound and picture; Cool design
Cons: Not enough speaker wire included. No universal remote code.
The Bottom Line: After owning this unit for 6 months, I couldn't be happier with my decision. I dare anyone to find a better system for the price.

| phurban's Full Review: Pioneer HTD-510DV Theater System |
I have revised this review after revisiting what I wrote and using a few more features on the system.
I did a lot of research on line before choosing the HTD-510DV DVD. I wanted something that would last me until the next big thing in technology came out, but didn't want to pay an exorbitant amount of money. I chose this unit from Pioneer because of past experiences with their products and shopping around.
Hooking it up was a snap. The color coded wiring and connectors in the back of the unit made set up fast and accurate. Before you purchase this unit, be sure to check how much wire you will need. The supplied wiring was far too little for my living room.
Once set up with my TV, VCR, Sony Playstation, and Digital Cable, every unit worked effortlessly with the head unit. Video games look and sound amazing, and watching a movie or sporting event is like being there. If you have as many devices to plug into your system as I do, you will need to purchase an audio/video selector as the head unit will not accommodate for all those inputs.
The five disk carousel is very handy with the ability to play every type of CD media. The tuner feature comes complete with an AM loop and FM wire antenna. Be sure to place the AM loop as far away from the head unit and your TV as possible; otherwise all you get is static. It also has the ability to store numerous stations both AM and FM without having to switch between frequencies.
The remote control handles all the extra functions of the unit (batteries included!). From several different surround sound modes to setting the distance between the speakers and head unit. The only problem with the remote control is it's the only one I can use. I cannot find a code that will work with my cable boxes universal remote. This is not an important issue with me as I like having some of the extended functions at my fingertips at all times.
The speakers are a great bargain for the money. The boxes are made from wood and gray speaker mesh. They look sleek weather hanging on the wall with the built in hangers or sitting on the floor or stand. Of course, they wouldn't be worth anything if they didn't sound good. I have to say these speakers rival the more popular models by such brands as Sony and KLH. In Visual Surround 2 mode, you're literally sitting in a mini movie theater! The center speaker gives clear vocals even during loud scenes and the bass tube vibrates the entire condo.
Weather you're a movie buff, video game junky, sports fanatic, or all three, this system will suit your needs and throw in some extras. This is a terrific system that I will have for many years.
