This Pioneer is worth the price tag if you can afford it.

Pros:Picture Quality, Sound Quality, lots of connections for a plasma.
Cons:As with most plasma tvs-Power Consumption-over 300 watts if I am not mistaken.
The Bottom Line: If you can spend the $4000 on a tv, this is the one to get.

I bought the Pioneer PDP-6070HD from Plasma.com. I ordered it on a Tuesday and received it the next Tuesday afternoon and had it up on the wall by that evening. It is being fed signals from a Dish Network DVR622, a Dish Network DVR921 and an Xbox 360 all via Monster M500 component video cables and a Video Storm component video matrix switcher. I have been waiting for a plasma of this size to come out with good enough picture quality to replace my Mitsubishi Diamond 65" WS-65907 rear projection unit that I bought back in 2001. And that is not an easy task for a plasma tv to accomplish. That was Mitsubishi's top of the line 65" before they switched over to these crappy DLP models they have now, that I wouldn't give you a dime for. Anyway, back to the Pioneer, right out of the box the picture looked great on all of the Dish Network HD channels. I have a Panasonic 37" plasma too, so I already new some of plasma's drawbacks firsthand when it comes to grey scaling. The Pioneer does a much better job than my Panasonic on the changing across the screen from one shade of grey to another. The colors are bright and the picture is very sharp when it is fed a quality signal like Dish HD or over the air HD from ABC or CBS,(NBC and FOX aren't broadcasting HD here in the Terre Haute Indiana area yet). Standard def is why I bought this plasma vs the others. I did not want a Plasma that I would not be satisfied watching sdtv on. I watch a lot of standard def programs and it is very hard for any tv 42 inches and above to have a very good standard def picture. Of course the picture is a little soft on standard def but not to the point of it being distracting or ruining the experience. I went out and looked at all of the current models out there before deciding on this one. I noticed, especially on the true 1080p models that everybody is harping on, that the standard def pics on them suuuuck. Not just a little, they almost appear to have snow on them as the old analog signals sometimes did. And these were being fed Direct Tv and Dish Network. Just getting a store to show you standard def can sometimes be fun. Using my Xbox 360 as a dvd player to play Lost in Space and then later to play Call of Duty 2 was a treat. Both looked amazing but the gaming was better than I expected. Another great feature on this unit is the subwoofer out connection. This has allowed me to not have to use my surround system at all so far. The speaker bar that comes with the Pioneer sounds a lot better then I would have expected, but this is no small speaker, the tv hides the size a little bit. Used with the sub, most people won't even need a separate speaker system. The gloss black bezel that surrounds the glass is very nicely finished but is going to be impossible to keep clean probably. One thing you want to keep in mind when mounting this on a wall, make sure the mount you buy is capable of this particular tv. I am not talking about a weight issue, this one weighs in at 112lbs. But the width of the mounting bracket itself my not be wide enough. Even if the mount says it will go up to 63" plasmas (which is what mine said), make sure it will work. I bought an Omnimount Fixed wall mount, you mount the main piece on the wall of course and then 2 brackets on the back of the plasma. The part on the wall is only about 32" wide and the distance between the mounting holes on the back of the plasma was about 36". So in order to make it work you have to either buy Omnimount's Tilting wall mount which comes with the extension kit for tv's of this size or find the extension kit separately to add on. Oh, by the way this Pioneer is capable of receiving a 1080p signal via the HDMI connection at 24 frames per second for those who have to have a blue ray or hd dvd player. Well, that is about all I can think of to say about this unit so far, I have only had it for about a week. If you go to buy one of these, go to Pioneer's site (pioneerelectronics.com)and check out the list of authorized Pioneer online stores which all have links you can click on to get there pricing which is usually only found once you stick one in your shopping cart due to Pioneer's restrictions on advertised pricing. You should be able to find one for around $4000 with shipping.
Hope this helps,
