Pros: Excellent sound quality, plenty of features and easy to set up and use.
Cons: Almost 50 buttons on the remote may intimidate some.
The Bottom Line: I would highly recommend this receiver because of the features, sound quality and price. Pioneer stands behind this product with a full one year parts AND labor warranty.

| aaron_collver's Full Review: Pioneer VSX-D411 5.1 Channels Receiver |
The Pioneer VSX-D411 comes with operating instructions that explain the basics of surround sound, how to hook the receiver up in various configurations as well as covering the more advanced features. The receiver offers 100 watts per channel (front left, front right, center, rear left and rear right) and an output for a powered subwoofer.
If you're planning on using both small and large speakers in your sound system, the receiver offers a crossover frequency setting. A crossover frequency is the point at which the receiver divides high and low sounds among speakers. Many smaller speakers cannot handle low bass tones so the receiver can either send the low bass tones to a subwoofer or to the larger speakers.
Another great feature of this receiver is being able to set the room size and specify how far apart the speakers are. This has been especially useful for me because I am a college student living in a small dorm room and this allows me to enjoy the same high quality sound I would enjoy in a larger room.
I bought this receiver because of the features and the 100 watts per channel power rating at a very economical price. Before purchasing this receiver, I compared it with other brands of similar price and features and found this receiver to be the optimum solution to my sound needs.
A really neat feature that I just noticed recently is that the display dims 10 seconds after pressing a button and brightens when you press a button. The display can be read from across the room with ease when you're using the remote control. And anyone who finds electronic lights in your room annoying when you're trying to sleep will love the dimming feature.
Setting up the receiver was very simple - connect the speaker wires, plug the receiver in and you're ready to go! The receiver has a very good radio tuner that got excellent reception without using the AM and FM antennas that are included with the receiver.
The remote that comes with the receiver includes two batteries in the box. The number of buttons on the remote may intimidate some at first (nearly 50), but after using the remote you'll appreciate the intelligent placing and grouping of buttons.
The only annoyance I have with the Pioneer VSX-D411 is the amount of time between turning the receiver on and when you first hear sound. The delay of several seconds (which also exists when switching between inputs) is enough to be annoying but the features and sound quality of this receiver far outweigh this con.
