Pros: cAffeine!!! - does give an energy boost - various plant extracts that may be beneficial
Cons: so-so taste, sucralose as sweetener, in store one can may cost too much (~$2)
The Bottom Line: I disliked its taste too much to spend $2 per can. If you are curious, go ahead, try it. This drink will probably have even less fans than Red Bull.

| djork's Full Review: Piranha Drinks By Eas |
In a sentence - It is definitely an energy-boost drink - but its taste .. well .. they still have a lot to do about that. I've tried the Phunky Fruit Punch flavor, only. This is the one sold in reddish bottles. The other flavor is Bone-crushing Citrus - it is sold in greenish cans. Even thought it sounds no better, who knows? may be it is more "drinkable". Because the Punch drink has left me dissapointed.
EAS Piranha Energy Drink has all of the features of a more better known Red Bull drink. It has caffeine, taurine, artificial flavors - but instead of glucouronolactone it features grapefruit and green tea leaf extract, and guarana seeds (I bet they meant extract or powdered - no seeds of course swim within this drink) and instead of aspartame it features sucralose. Here is a definite attempt by its creators to make a healthier-looking drink -- they put a whole lot of "extras" into it, as compared with Red Bull.
One can is 8.4 fl oz. It offers no vitamins and minerals - just a tad of sodium (10mg). The sugarless variety has 0 calories of course. The sugar-containing drink has about 35g of sugar per bottle and features 140 calories. Amount of caffeine is equal to one coffee drink. They fail to specify exactly how much that is - but I bet around 120-130 mg per can. Thus this drink is not recommended for kids, and people taking stimulant drugs.
Here are the ingredients for sugarless drink:
Carbonated filtered reverse osmosis water, contains less than 2% of the following - Proprietary synergistic energy complex (caffeine, taurine, naringin (grapefruit extract), green tea leaf extract, zhi-shi (bitter orange extract) and guarana seeds (paulina cupana), natural and artificial flavors, citric acid, malic acid, sucralose (Splenda, acesulfame potassium, potassium benzoate (preservative) and potassium sorbate (preservative), calcium disodium EDTA (preserves), red #40 & blue #1
After drinking Piranha drink I sure felt a power surge. But somehow the taste was too artificial -- like burnt fruity caramel syrup. That is the closest I can describe it. I will not buy this drink again - unless there is nothing else available. Somehow, the taste of good ol' Red Bull is more appealing. And a lot of people find Red Bull tastes horrible. These people should definitely avoid this drink then. Because it is even worser, the way they flavored it.
I also have issues with sucralose. But that may not apply to many people. I prefer to have aspartame as sweetener. Sucralose leaves an unpleasant sweet aftertaste. Aspartame for me, does not. This unpleasant aftertaste has increased the unattractiveness of this drink for me. So I'm recommending getting it only if you are quite curious. If not - better leave it be on the store shelves.
