I'm learning that toddlers require much more toys than infants do. Since I chose to limit the amount of toys in my home I look for ones made of quality and non toxic materials that are also entertaining and help my daughter with learning her shapes and colors. I've found that Plan Toys offers exactly what I am looking for at a higher price that I am more than willing to pay.
The Plan Toys sorting bus is a bright yellow wooden bus with various shapes cut out on the sides. It comes with a driver that sits in a round peg at the front of the bus and a square, triangle and circle wood pieces that fit into the shapes on the bus. The bus has a unique little pull on top that dumps out the shapes that are inside the bus. This toy is gender neutral and is a great choice for children that are beginning to learn and recognize shapes and colors.
From Plan Toys, “This lovely wooden toy by Plan Toys is both shape sorter and pull toy. Toddlers will enjoy learning how to fit the right block into the correctly shaped hole through a process of trial and error, and then pulling their triumph all around the house on a handy cord. The bus comes with a little driver who is also removable. When all the blocks are in the bus they can be emptied back out with a handy pull lever that dumps all the blocks out the back. Made of earth-friendly and replenishable rubber wood by our friends at Plan Toys. Plan Toys is a Thailand based company that has been making quality baby and children's toys from their ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 & SA 8000 Certified offices in Thailand since 1981. "
Playtime My daughter really likes to use the string to drag the bus behind her. Because she likes to run she inevitably lifts up the bus instead of merely just pulling it behind her. When we first bought the bus this was literally impossibly for her to do since the bus is fairly heavy, but now she lifts it up with no problem. The bus is also very useful when teaching shapes and I often hold each shape up to her, say the color and the shape and show her when it fits in the sorting section in the trunk of the bus. She also likes to carry around the round peg bus driver that fits into the front of the bus. Since the bus and shapes are made out of solid wood, it's important to know that if your child likes to throw items, these ones will hurt on impact!
Durability The Plan toys sorting bus is very durable and since it is made of solid wood, it is a toy that will be in our home for a long time. It's one of the few toys that my daughter plays with everyday. Since she is still teething, the sorting shapes get chewed on a regular basis but I am happy to report that there are no teeth marks or paint scraped off.
Like most of the Plan toys that I have purchased, I am extremely happy with how this toy has preformed. Since it is made of a renewable resource and has non toxic paint, I'm comfortable with the fact that it can go into my child's mouth and not harm her. In addition it's very easy to clean and any grime and dirt comes right off with a damp rag.
This toy cost me $18.oo on sale at Amazon.com but I have seen it for as much as $24 regular price. It’s on the expensive side for a simple pull toy but in my opinion worth every penny. Tiffy0380
