Pros: spectacular picture, very fine resolution BIG screen
Cons: a tad bit bright, button controls could be better designed
The Bottom Line: great resolution, great contrast and very bright.. great to work with during daytime but too bright to look at in the night time. Buttons are not well designed

| rameshmantha's Full Review: Planar CT1904Z 19 inch LCD Monitor |
Here is my configuration: CT1904Z driven by ATI Radeon 8500 64MB DDRAM DVI out..
I recently purchased a Planar Black CT1904Z LCD monitor from Dell, thankfully it had no dead pixels.. As I was opening the box I got the feeling that I was opening an item that was made in China (and definitely not Japan) I say this because I think all the products made in Japan are a shade above the rest in terms of packaging and quality of construction. The quality of construction was fine (though not Japanese quality) Connecting it to my computer was a little confusing because when you look at the available connectors the male and the female portions do not appear to mate at first.. but after careful examination I realized that I just have to press the two together for them to fit in..
I would have given this monitor an excellent but for the fact that I was not able to reduce the brightness by more than 10%.. its still 25% brighter than I would like it to be at nighttime.. while the fact that it is bright is good during daytime (the brightness actually helps by contrasting the images against the diffused daylight in the room..), In the night time, the brightness is a bit too much and can hurt your eyes if you work on it..and if you are like me and ocassionally work on it under dim lighting conditions, I wouldnt recommend because of the brighness factor.. I am still looking at ways I could reduce the brightness.. as far as I can tell, this is the only disadvantage (although serious!) and but for this the monitor is spectacular.. in the colors, the frequency and resolutions.. I would recommend this monitor as long as you can tolerate the brightness. One big factor in its favor is the excellent value for your money.. where else can you get a 19inch LCD/TFT monitor for $650? For $650 it offers an excellent value.. and I was able to get it at one of the freak sales at Dell.com where they had a 25% off with free shipping deal
