Pros: Heart healthy, cholesterol free, nutritious snack, great tasting, sea salt & black pepper
Cons: Addictive, can be hard to find
I was never fond of pistachios....until now.
My son dropped off 2 bags of Planters Sea Salt & Black Pepper Pistachios saying I'd love them and to give them a try. I opened a nut from its hard shell and told him there was nothing special about them. He said to put the shell in my mouth and suck on it and then open the shell and dig out the pistachio. They were eye popping delicious and I'm now on the second bag. I can't eat just one. Once I start, I keep eating and eating and eating. Yes, they're messy as you dispose of the shell but they're worth it.
I've always loved black pepper and tend to add more to my food than most people. Adding black pepper to sea salt on pistachio nuts only increases my hunger and these pistachio nuts taste delicious to me. I'll put a hard nut in my mouth and continue to suck on it until the black pepper flavor is gone and then I'll use my finger nail to crack the shell and dig the nut out. They usually come out in halves - half a nut in each shell. The shells are hard and remain so no matter how long you keep it in your mouth.
I know nuts are a good source of fiber and these contain 12 grams per serving. I'm pretty sure I get double that when I eat them. I've not noticed any stomach trouble after eating them. My oldest daughter can eat certain nuts that produce a bowel movement faster than I anyone I know. There are times when I wish they worked on me but my digestive system doesn't work that way.

Yes. My son told me I couldn't get them at our local Walmart. He bought them at Publix. I've not looked for them in other stores so when my second bag is gone, I'll just drive to Publix and buy them.
