Pros:Great for people who wear prescription or sun glasses, great sound quality and light.
Cons:Odd to wear, takes getting use too.
The Bottom Line: The MX-505 takes getting use too but once you get it youíll love the sound quality and comfort the headset provides. The WindSmart Wind Tube works very well.
I have been looking for a headset that is light and comfortable to wear but also provides clear calls. I have been using the Plantronics MX-505 for over a week and I feel it does all that and more. What do I mean by more? I wear prescription eye glasses and all of the over the ear headsets I have to take off my glasses, put on my headset and put my glasses back on. Same holds true for those that wear sunglasses. The Plantronics MX-505 is advertised as an over the ear headset but under the ear would actually describe it better. This was an unexpected feature for me, I should have paid more attention to the picture, but very much welcomed.
Even if you do not wear glasses the design is very comfortable. I have to sit in telephone conference calls that can last over an hour and I forget that I even have the MX-505 on. A few times a week I take my dog for a long walk, between 45-90 minutes, and during those walk the headset stays firmly in place.
The Plantronics MX-505 uses a technology called WindSmart Wind Tube. What this is supposed to do is reduce wind noise. It works! I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico and this has to be the windiest place I have ever lived. Without the headset my wife complains about the background wind noise. With the headset my wife doesnt even know the wind is blowing. In fact no one has complained about hearing the wind when Im outside. I have pushed the WindSmart Wind Tube a step further. While driving down the freeway at 70mph, I have a full size pickup truck, I lowered the driver side window and my wife said she could still hear me clearly. When I lowered the passenger side window, both windows are open now, she said I was still clear but could hear a little static once in a while. There is no way that I could talk on my LG PM-225 with the windows down without the Plantronics MX-505 headset.
The only thing I would warn you about with this headset is that it takes getting used too. The MX-505 feels loose in your ear, I am used to a headset that fit nice and snug. It will take a few tries to get it right. After about a week of use I can place the headset in my ear correctly. It is a little aggravating at first but well worth the time and effort.
