Question: what is a Bluetooth enabled smart-phone or two without a great Bluetooth headset to accompany it, or them? Incomplete, I’d say, and lonely. After receiving my new Bluetooth enabled BlackBerry Storm II 9550 Smartphone, I went searching for the perfect Bluetooth headset to complement it. Since I also carry a Bluetooth enabled personal phone from time-to-time, I needed a Bluetooth headset that could connect to two phones at once. Enter the Plantronics Voyager PRO Bluetooth Headset.
The Plantronics Voyager PRO Bluetooth Headset is an unusually shaped headset. But, the small microphone/headset weighs less than 3 oz’s, and is so light I often forget it is attached to my ear even after an hour or so of wearing it. The form-fitting ear-clip is fashioned with a soft rubber coating that makes it easy to slip the Voyager PRO Bluetooth Headset over either ear even with glasses on. The battery compartment of the headset makes it look as though it would be tough to wear, but that is not the case.
Product Description (from the Manufacture): The difference is clear. The dual-microphone AudioIQ2® noise-cancelling technology of the Plantronics Voyager® PRO Bluetooth headset pushes the limits, by cutting up to 80% of any background noise, It provides clearer calls for everyday life, so if you are out and about, in the car or on the street, you will sound like you are in the office. The behind-the-ear wearing style provides a balanced, lightweight design for long call wearing comfort and with up to six hours’ talk time and audio battery recharge alerts, the Voyager PRO really is the business tool you can rely on.

Pairing, the process of getting the headset to “speak” to a desired phone, or phones is clearly documented in the quick reference guide and on a small business card inside the box. The Voyager PRO Bluetooth Headset is fitted with QuickPair and Multipoint Technologies that allows you to seamlessly and quickly pair the headset without having to enter a four digit code with more than one Bluetooth enabled device. This is the primary reason I bought this Bluetooth headset and I have not been disappointed in its functionality; so far it works flawlessly.
The Voyager PRO supports Bluetooth 2.1 and EDR (Enhanced Data Rate) and Secure Simple Pairing (SSP), making it compatible with Bluetooth-enabled devices, including phones, PDAs, and laptop computers.
The sound quality of the Voyager PRO headset is stellar. I have not had those problems hearing the other party and I can hear just fine even at highway speeds in excess of 70 miles an hour.
According to Plantronics, the Voyager PRO uses advanced AudioIQ noise-canceling technology utilizing a finely tuned adaptive 20-band equalizer, that makes you sound like you're in the same room as your caller, not miles apart. To achieve this, AudioIQ makes use of two microphones--one that's focused on your speech and the other that picks out distracting background sounds, such as road hum and construction noise--then compares data from the two microphones and eliminates unwanted sounds, leaving your voice free to be heard clearly and naturally.
Since the Voyager PRO does have a (dual) boom microphone I was quite confident that I could make myself heard without shouting into the microphone; I was right. Overall, I have not had any complaints from the people I call. I make sure I speak in a nice auditable tone and I have been told that it as if I were speaking directly into the phone.
Like the Plantronics Voyager 510 it replaces the Voyager PRO offers an extended battery life, rated at up to six hours of continuous talk time and five days of standby time of a single charge. Convenient voice prompts even alert you to battery and mute status. I can attest to the Voyager PRO’s long battery life, I can typically go for up to two weeks between charging.
Small, extremely lightweight, attractive, and functional, the Plantronics Voyager PRO Bluetooth Headset fits my modest needs, and does it in style. The Voyager PRO’s fold-up microphone design cleverly combines compactness with functionality for a novel, well-engineered and well-implemented package.
