Play-Doh, more like Play-Slow

Pros: Chance for kids to get creative, no batteries!
Cons: Messy, extruder is kind of lame.
The Bottom Line: Play-Doh is a classic and theres good reasons its stuck around so long.

What's in the box:
An extruder, which sort of looks like a big stapler with a handle on top and big hole in the back; two small cans of play-Doh; three half creature molds, two shape-making strips.
Why its great:
First and most obviously, that classic Play-Doh smell! Other than that though, this product offers kids the chance to really put their limitless imagination to use. When they are playing with Play-Doh the containers become boats, Dough becomes fish, then elephants, you know how it goes...My pre-schooler could play with this set all afternoon.
The pieces are big enough to easily keep the set together, there's nothing really sharp involved and the plastic which is very durable, holds up to my son.
Why its not so great:
Play-Doh gets everywhere! I don't get how this stuff can fall apart in chunks, but the second it hits the carpet its like fresh chewed gum.
The extruder in this set has a big gap between the hole, the little piece that pushes the dough through the hole, and the bottom of the contraption. Unfortunately that means I spend the whole day pulling chunks of semi-dried dough out of this little crack that must remain clear for the toy to work.
Also, I'm not sure if its from playing out in the sun, or not working the dough enough, but once the shaper strip is on the extruder it takes for-eeee-ver to push the dough out. My 3 year old isn't strong enough, so again, I have to be right at his side helping him out with it.
In the end, anything that can hold my sons attention, stretch his imagination, and keep the tv off is all right by me.
