Pros: Inexpensive and will keep your daughter interested for hours.
Cons: Make sure that your child is old enough to be able to play with this.
Every time my wife and I take our daughter to Toys "R" Us, and we are lucky to get out of there with anything left in our wallets. If my daughter had her way she would spend all day in the baby doll aisle. She loves strawberry shortcake. So every time that she sees any extra accessories, she is always looking at us with those big blue eyes of hers and say, boy I would sure like that. She never really asks for anything, she would just say that she would like to have it. So, when my wife and I saw her staring at this particular doll. We looked at the price and then looked at each other and thought that it would be a nice surprise for her. It was not a bad price it was only $10 plus tax.
This doll stands approximately 7 inches tall and has long strawberry colored wavy hair that goes all the way down to her waist with short front bangs. There are a couple of pigtails with pink bows mixed in the long wavy hair. This also comes equipped to with a brightly colored hair piece and a pink brush and pink shoes. This also comes with a fruit scented hair clip. This strawberry shortcake pal also has a wraparound silky skirt which can be removed by undoing the Velcro strips that keep it attached. This doll that is called Raspberry Torte has green eyes and pink cheeks and a beautiful smile. The strawberry shortcake dolls have plenty of accessories and pals with different names. This flavor twist doll is very cute and everything about her is either pink or strawberry.
They recommend that children at the age of 5 through 7 are the best candidates to have these. But, our daughter is eight years old and still plays with all of the strawberry shortcake toys. Our daughter and her neighbor girl friends will stay in the bedroom for hours and have a little tea party and switching different fruit scented clips with each other that have a sweet smell to them. Between the three of them, they probably have about six different types of dolls. When they all get together it is just like having a bunch of hens in the henhouse. They all have different scented hair clips, so they are always exchanging these clips, and having more fun doing this. We have noticed that as time goes on the scent kind of fades away, but it does not totally disappear. The clips still have a fruity smell to them after quite a while. The only thing that I have found that our daughter loves more than this is anything with Hannah Montana on it. This is one of the new phases that she is going through; she was stuck in that Cinderella phase for quite awhile. Now, I am afraid that she is starting to go in to the Hannah Montana phase.
If it is not one thing it's another that the children are dreaming about being or doing. First she wants to be a princess and then she wants to be a singer, whatever happened to good old-fashioned days, where they would just play in the bedroom with these little baby dolls such as strawberry shortcake and be happy. Our daughter still plays with this even though she is eight years old, but I'm afraid that someday even this will end up on the shelf. But for right now, she loves this doll, and is having the time of her life with her friends.
