Freak369's Full Review: Playmobil Flower Fairy with Wheelbarrow
Normally I wouldn't look twice at a set like this but I knew that Annabelle would love it because of the unique figure as well as the cool wheelbarrow and bunnies. Playmobil has several animal-only themed add-on sets that you can buy to add some extra fluff to your scene but most of them are only sold through the website or through their shop-at-home catalog. Getting two bunnies in this set is nice and they both have different poses but they are small and they can get lost in a heartbeat on white carpeting. Thankfully there is only one small patch of white carpeting in the house but it never fails that when I run the vacuum over it, something either Playmobil or Lego related gets sucked up in it.
The pixie / faerie in this set is adorable and trust me, it pains me to use that word to describe anything. It has a child-like appearance so it is a nice switch from the regular pixies, faeries and sprites that you normally get with Playmobil sets. Some of things that separate this from other figures and makes it a bit more attractive; clip on wings, barefoot and an upside down buttercup that's being used as a hat. Annabelle didn't like the wings that came with this set so she used some of the clear pink ones that came with another faerie figure. We did have to make an adjustment to the clip on section so that it would stay on this figure's back but that only took a couple of minutes to do. The blue and green colors of her clothing are cute and they don't conflict or overpower the colors of the flowers.
The wheelbarrow / wheel barrel is a unique looking item. While it is made completely of plastic the frame is made to mimic tree branches that support a large scoop shaped leaf. When I first saw it I didn't immediately pick up on the fact that it was a big leaf but when I realized what it was I let out a huge laugh. It is large and deep enough that you can carry all of the flowers in it as well as other items without anything falling out. It doesn't tip over so you can load it up without fail. Getting the figure's hands snapped around the two stems of wheel barrel can be a little tricky but not impossible. The flowers / tulips are well done and have a good bit of detail to them but thankfully the pieces are solid so the leafs that hang off the sides don't peel off of them. As mentioned, there are two all-white rabbits in the set that can be used in a lot of different ways.
The Pixie Flower Wheel Barrel set makes for a great add-on to any of the faerie themed sets as well as anything that has a garden to it. You don't have to have a faerie themed set to make use of this; it's a nice thing to add to a regular garden theme as a little extra kick. Because of the neutral look of the figure and the child-like appearance you can use it for a lot of different things. If you have some of the other faerie sets that have adult figures, this one could be used as their child. The stenciled flower pattern on her shirt is a nice added touch but the hand-hoe that comes with the set doesn’t really get a lot of use because it is too long and makes the figure tip over. If you want to pose her with it, add some poster putty to her feet to keep her standing upright.
The Playmobil "Fairy World" series includes: 4194 Tree Stump Fairy 4195 Carriage With Unicorn 4196 Pixie Flower Wheel Barrel 4197 Rickshaw 4198 Water Lily 4199 The Fairy Garden
This set sells for about five dollars and to me it is more than worth it because of the unique look of the faerie figure. The flowers, wheel barrel and bunnies are also nice perks to the set. This does have some small elements to it so it is suggested for those ages three and older. It can be used with any of the faerie themed sets as well as Castle and Medieval sets that have faeries, pixies or forest creatures in it. Annabelle really loves this figure and refuses to give it up so it looks like I am going to have to get a set for myself. Normally I wouldn't get something like this for my Playmobil figure collection but it has such a cool look to it that I really want to add it to the other fantasy styled figures.
