Buying the Playmobil Duo, Pals and Special sets are a great way to get addition figures. There are tons for the various medieval themes and thankfully they are continuing on with adding more to the line up. If you invest in the large sets and feel that they are a little skimpy with knights, these packs are a great way to improve and army or fill in bare spots. While they almost all have the same overall composure to them, there are visual differences as well as shields, helmets, weapons and in the larger packs you might get a horse with tournament cover. Depending on their release year, some of them can cost as much as twenty dollars but the general price for a one figure pack is three to four dollars. If you want to stick with a set theme then the larger packs are the way to go but you always have the option to add a shield or piece of armor to a borderline generic knight to make him fit in a little better with the theme.

Your knight comes with an amazing looking silver [not metallic] double sided axe. There are a couple different grip points on this but it can make him top heavy if you have him holding it at the very end in an attack pose. You can solve that with some poster putty on his feet. Playmobil doesn't use the same kind of layout as Lego so there are no base plates unless you invest in the sets with the grids. You also get a rather lame looking side scabbard for the sword; this is in textured brown and looks rather crappy on him given his colors. The sword is a little nice than the ones that you usually get with figure based sets like this. Your knight's shield is done in the same gray and yellow as his clothing and armor so he looks sweet from top to bottom.

About the only downside to the knight is that he has an optional ornament on his helmet. It is large and looks sort of like an eagle but it is another blade design. This makes him look taller than other knights so you might want to reserve this one for use on horseback [no horse comes with this set]. Even though he will be on horseback he'll look 'normal'. I wish the helmet was a little different; while I am sure it does a great job of protecting his face it also ends up blocking some of it from view. As a whole this is a great add on figure for almost any of the castle and medieval themes from Playmobil but he can just as easily be added to the Dragon Land sets.

He's priced in the three to four dollar range; not bad considering what you are getting with it and the fact that he can be added in with other knights without having to make a lot of changes to him. He is standard Playmobil size but the adornment on the helmet, optional, does make him look a little taller than others. It goes without saying that me makes for a great stocking stuffer or small gift and since it has a lot of common ties to other knight themed sets there is a lot of replay value to it. Whether you collect the knights or just Playmobil figures in general, this is a decent price for something that can be used a lot of different ways.
