The Bottom Line: This was the high chair I wanted then. If I had the choice I would buy it again. I just love it.

| gasgirl's Full Review: Playskool 1-2-3 High Chair |
We had our first child in 1995. My brother in law offered to buy us a high chair and asked which one I wanted. After looking at a few I saw the playskool 123 and decided then and there that this was the chair I wanted.
This high chair was one of the first ones to recline and to have adjustable heights. This was right around when I got it. I have seen other similar ones since but I still remain totally happy with the one I got.
This high chair has a nice big tray that keeps spills in and fits pretty well into the sink. The tray comes off with one hand which is very handy when you are trying to keep an anxious baby from jumping overboard. After six years and continuous use with my own three kids and many babysitting charges, being used for such wonderful games as ketchup painting, pudding painting and spaghetti art the tray is a little orange. Not too terrible a price to pay for the fact that in almost 7 years of constant use I have never seen a kid escape this chair.
There is a three point harness and a really thick crotch bar. It is not thick between their legs but length wise so it comes up closer to their crotch. I have found that this helps little babies sit in it better without sliding down like they can in other chairs with a smaller crotch bar. Don't worry about an older child not fitting though, my three year old still loves to sit in this chair. I think it is important to make sure the seat belt is on pretty snug. This might be why none of the kids have ever slipped out.
I have never seen this chair fall over. It has a really large base. I know there are complaints about how much room it takes to store it but I think it is an ok trade off for the stability this chair offers.
It adjusts to six different heights and the crotch bar can be removed so that your toddler can use it for a tv chair or just to sit and read. My five month old likes to sit in it reclining back. I'm pretty sure mine only has 2 recline positions. Up or down. The tray has three positions, I never really needed them because all my kids are skinny. But that would be great with a baby with some meat on him. I put it on as close as possible to keep them from jumping.
I do find it a little difficult to get all the crevices clean. Children tend to turn around and put their hands all over every where. Mine has gone in the shower a few times. After three years of use the seat cushions cracked open and got wet inside from washing. They got a bit smelly so I phoned the company to see about getting a replacement cushion. (Also I wanted to get blue instead of pink since I had boys now.) The lady on the phone was very helpful and informed me of a recall on the legs and the crotch bar. They sent me new legs and a new crotch bar. I bought the new seat pads for 17 dollars canadian. They have lasted for quite a while now with no sign of a tear.
I have never regretted buying this high chair and I have many cute pictures of the kids sleeping in it (my kids and the ones I babysit.) and if I had to buy a new high chair I would definitely buy this one again. I just love it.
