| laweiler1's Full Review: Playskool 1-2-3 High Chair |
After the birth of my son, my mother in law decided that she needed a high chair at her house when we were over with the kids. This is the make and model that she bought. She felt that it served two purposes, a table and chair for my three year old and a high chair for our son.
This has to be one of the best ideas for a high chair for infants to toddlers that have been created. Not only is it durable, it's tough and it's safe!
We have had this high chair since my second daughter was 3 months old. We used it then for feedings late at night or when we gave her cereal. IT RECLINES! There are two (fairly large) buttons on the sides that allow you to recline the seat back and forward for easier feedings. Babies normally can't sit on their own and this feature allows them to rest their head backwards. As they get older and are able to sit up (I don't recommend a regular high chair unless they can sit up) you recline the seat forward so they are in a more natural sitting position.
The feature that I think works great is that you are able to raise the seat up and down. When the family is eating at the dining room table (do people really do this anymore?) you are able to bring the seat up to the height of the table. When your lazy (I know I am admitting it) and you want to sit on the couch and feed them, you bring the seat down to your level. No more straining our backs for feedings.
The tray glides onto the bar that is attached to the seat. This bar also stops your child from falling out. (See my other opinion on Evenflo's high chair.) The seat comes with a strap for extra security. Which I recommend regardless.
The entire high chair folds up so that you can put it in a closet or pantry area. Now it doesn't fold up small but I am able to put it in our pantry next to our vacuum when I need to (might be a good time for some winter cleaning.)
I would highly recommend this chair for all new parents. I think the construction of this high chair is very well manufactured.
****** When checking out Playskools websites, I did notice there was a product recall on this high chair if purchased in 1995 or 1996. If you have one of these chairs from then, please make sure to check out the recalls on this. ********
