The time flew by, here it was June 1998 and my baby was 5 months old. It was time to get a highchair. I wanted to have one before we really started him on solid foods. My grandmother was aching to buy the highchair - she thought it was ridiculous that I wasn't giving my infant solids until he was 6 months old (oh the times change, don't they?).
So, off we went on yet another trek to Toy's R Us - this time in search of the perfect highchair. It was pretty easy for me to see that the Playskool 1-2-3 High Chair was the one I wanted for my baby.
This highchair is very sturdy and durable; has a wonderful "T-bar" so that baby cannot just slide out the bottom and get hurt; has a foot rest for baby's feet; has a bib or wash cloth holder in the back; is easily adjustable in height as well as in reclining; has safety straps and the tray was supposed to resist bacteria. How well the tray does keep the bacteria away, I don't know and at this point I don't care. Either way, this is a wonderful highchair!
My son has now used the Playskool 1-2-3 High Chair for 2 years and it still looks brand new! How's that for quality? When my son, Brandon, turned 2 years old last January we took the tray off of his highchair and adjusted the level of the highchair so it would fit perfectly under our dinner table. Now he can still be "confined" (read: he can't get down on his own) and safe all while eating at the table with mom and dad. It's perfect!
Besides this highchair being so durable, the other reason why our Playskool 1-2-3 High Chair still looks brand new is how easy it is to clean, because believe me it is not because my son is so easy on it! The back padding is super easy cleaning - all you need to do is wipe it off. The seat padding very easily comes off, can be taken over to the sink and scrubbed until good as new. Even though the seat padding comes off easily, it does not come off while my son is sitting in the chair.
The hardest part to clean would be the safety straps, and even they are very simple to do. These safety straps do not come off of the highchair, so I put a little bit of bleach with water in a bowl and soak them - and there you have it good as new! PLEASE! Remember to always strap in your baby and/or child. It only takes a couple of seconds and could save them from a horrible tumble, which you would never forgive yourself for.
All in all, the Playskool 1-2-3 High Chair is the perfect chair for us. We have had no problems with it at all, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a safe and durable highchair for their little one.
