Pros: I got to try them out for free
Cons: They exist
The Bottom Line: Playskool needs to stick to toys and stay out of the diaper game.

| mmcphee's Full Review: Playskool Cottony Cloths Unscented |
I wasn't in need of any wipes. My favorite wipes are Kirkland brand purchased in bulk from Costco. But between a sale and coupons and an in store special I received a free package of Playskool Cottony Cloths diaper wipes for free when I bought Playskool Rompers Diapers for only $3.
The Basics
I selected a package of 80 unscented wipes, but they are also available in scented. The packaging is a bag with a plastic flip top lid on top. These are a pop-up style wipe embossed with stars and moons. Each wipe measures approximately 6 1/2" X 8" and have a vague chemical scent to them. They are of course, hypoallergenic
Our Experience
When I saw the packaging they looked exactly like my belovedKirkland wipes except for the design on the outside of the bag. There is a cute likeness of a Playskool glowworm embossed on the lid cover. The bag collapses as wipes are used or, alternately the bag can be opened and put in another wipe dispenser. These wipes seem tough and I have never had one tear while using it.
And that is where all the free goodness ends. These are the thinnest wipes I have ever used. Now I do like a thin wipes, I think they are easier to use, but these are beyond thin. And somehow they still manager to be stiff and rough feeling. However, my son has never complained or had any sort of reaction to these wipes.
I also prefer a drier rather than a wetter wipe. But these are dry to the extreme. As you work your way down toward the bottom of the package the wipes start to get very dry. With the last third to quarter of the package you are essentially using cheap toilet paper to wipe up your child, which doesn't do a good job of removing anything your child may have been sitting in. And if you use wipes for cleaning hands and faces as we do, well, dry doesn't work very well. Plan on having to add water to your package at regular intervals even if you are careful to snap the lid closed tightly immediately after each use as I am.
Final Thoughts
There are so many diaper wipes out there you don't need to bother with Playskool Cottony Cloths, unless you like very thin, very dry wipes. Even though I got mine essentially for free, they weren't worth it.
