Pros:Numbers and Symbols, goes nice with letter magnet set
Cons:is that a 6 or a 9?
The Bottom Line: Why did #10 run away? Because 7 8 9
I purchased this Playskool Magnetic Numbers set at the same time that I picked up the Playskool Magnetic Capital Letters set. It didn't seem right to me to get the letters without the numbers or vice versa. Since each boxed set was relatively inexpensive I just grabbed them both.

When my son and I got home from the store I had a few thing to do right away so I let him play with the 2 boxes each of the magnet sets came in before heading to the kitchen. I had a feeling these magnets were going to be a big hit with him based on my own childhood experience and also observing him play with some fridge magnets at a recent visit to a friend's home.
Included in this set
Each box of Playskool Magnetic Numbers contains 26 magnets in total. This includes 2 each of numbers 1 through 9, 3 zeros, and 5 arithmetic symbols (plus, minus, multiply, divide, and equals). The magnets are made of a durable plastic in varying bright colors (red, blue, yellow, green, orange, and purple).
On the front of each number, there is also braille representation so that they can also be used with visually impaired.
The magnetic numbers are slightly smaller than the magnetic letters set, also by Playskool. Each number is about 2.5" by 2.5". They are small enough that they don't totally take over your refrigerator but large enough so that little kids can grasp them and manipulate them. The numbers themselves are big enough so that little kids won't choke on them.
Still, these numbers are recommended for children ages 3 and up. When allowing younger children to play with them please be very cautious because the magnet inserts used could become a choke hazard should they get separated from the plastic number itself.
Additionally, the magnets used for the Playskool Magnetic Numbers are pretty wimpy. They do an ok job of hanging up a single sheet of paper or a small photo, but cannot hold much more than that.
Why purchase Playskool Magnetic Numbers
In addition to being a wonderful way to occupy your child while you are in the kitchen doing such things as meal preparations, these numbers are also both educational and fun.
Playing with the Playskool Magnetic Numbers can help:
Basic math skills
Hey, What's your number again?
A little problem is that the 6 and the 9 are nearly identical making them impossible to tell the difference - unless you know braille. Since the magnets have no obvious right or wrong top or bottom this can be a little confusing to children who are just learning their numbers.
Like the letters, my son's way of playing with them involves knocking down and removing all the numbers and operators, then putting them back one by one according to a color sort. Though our letter and number set were purchased separately they have since become mixed up on the fridge and are played with simultaneously.
Because the magnets are rather weak, the numbers are easily knocked off the fridge and can get lost. So, be sure to watch where those numbers go!
The Playskool Magnetic Numbers set has proved to be a lot of fun in our kitchen and is helping me teach my son numbers. While he is young and just starting I know that down the road we'll get a lot more use out of them and will be able to even play math games with them. For such an inexpensive price paid, the Playskool Magnetic Numbers are definitely worth picking up for your refrigerator if you have a young child in your home.
Thanks to Playskools Magnetic Numbers and Playskool Magnetic Capital Letters I've actually been able to prepare a meal in relative peace without my son dumping the dog's food and water. These magnets do a great job at edutaining.
