Re: Ground cover? (Reply to this comment)

It was under Landscaping where I said I used mulch around the playground and pea gravel around the picnic area I constructed.
The actual safety regulations for regulated playgrounds has some serious depth requirements depending on height of the fall (I think an 8' fall requires pea gravel 16" deep!). Have to check your local city codes to be sure.

Ground cover? (Reply to this comment)
by elzora
Just curious if you have any kind of pea gravel or ground cover for cushioning under this. We spent $600 on a swingset for our 2 1/2 acre property, and now the state won't let the daycare kids use it because it doesn't have pea gravel under it. 12' in front and back of the swing line and 6' on each side!
Seems like over kill. As you mentioned, most kids get hurt by walking in front of a swing and all the cushioning on the ground still won't prevent those injuries.
Just curious what your thoughts are! Thanks,
Sue
