| daddym's Full Review: Playtex Banana Boat Soothing Aloe After Sun Gel 16... |
My wife who is half Italian and was blessed with an olive skin tone loves to make fun of me as I can't seem to be out in the sun for 5 minutes before I start to burn. I am also pretty lazy about putting sunscreen and such on; don't yell at me, my wife does enough of that already.
When I am out in the sun with her she makes me put it on, but I go to motorcycle rallies and such and I will forget to put it on, or I will put it on some places and forget others. My hands always seem to get really burned up when I ride, but I always seem to forget to put the sun block on them, or I don't want to put it on because it will make my grip slippery, I do wear gloves, but the knuckles of the gloves are opened and my knuckles get really burned.
Since I am constantly forgetting the sun block this causes me to always remember the Aloe Vera. When I am in pain from a sun burn the first thing I do is turn to a bottle of Banana Boat Soothing Aloe After Sun.
Banana Boat Soothing Aloe After Sun comes in an 8 oz size bottle and a 16 oz size. We always buy the large size because I know I will need a lot of it over the summer. The 16 oz size costs around $7.00. But I would probably pay anything for the relief
The bottle is just a plastic like bottle with a sun tan lotion type lid, where the little spout pops up, and you can push it back down. To be honest though I just unscrew the lid and pour it out in a big glob.
Banana Boat Pure Aloe Vera Gel is 99.7 percent Aloe. The ingredients are as follows:
Water, SD Alcohol 40, Glycerin, Polysorbate 20, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Fragrance, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Benzophenone 4, Yellow 5, Blue 1
Keep in mind that they have to put some kind of preservative in it, and I think they attempt to exaggerate the color.
The feel of the aloe Vera gel is kind of like slime, not a real thick slime, but it is definitely slime like. When it hits the skin the especially if the skin is sun burnt it feels really nice and cool and relieving instantly. I actually crave this cool feeling when I have sun burn. It also helps to heal the skin a lot faster than if you just try to let it heal on its own. It helps to add back the moisture to your skin that gets taken away by the burning sun. I wouldn't say it keeps me from peeling entirely, but it does cut the peeling down to a minimum.
Aloe Vera has long been known for its healing properties and you can also use this to heal minor cuts, minor burns, and dry skin in general. I have read that some guys use this on their face after they shave. I don't think I would go that far, but this cannot be beat for my sunburns.
I honestly don't know how I would get through the summer without my Banana Boat Soothing Aloe After Sun Gel. This is probably one of my all time favorite products. I don't pay a lot of attention to most things I use, my wife does the shopping and I just use whatever she buys, but when it comes to my sunburns, I will go right for the Banana Boat Pure Aloe Vera Gel every time.
I am very pleased to recommend a product that I am very faithful to. I recommend you keep a bottle of this around all year round, but especially in the summer time, especially if you are like me and burn easily. Of course don't forget to wear your sun block; but if you do pull out your Banana Boat Soothing Aloe After Sun Gel.
I cannot really pin down the smell it smells kind of like soap smell. It smells really clean. It is slightly pleasant I guess, but not great.
