Definitely odorless! I hate to walk into a person's home and know there is a baby just by the reek of smelly diapers! The diaper genie was a gift to me, and I absolutely think it's the greatest invention ever for a baby's nursery!

This thing really does work! You can go into my son's room, and you can't smell a thing! And my husband really appreciates this too! And it keeps us from embarrassment when company comes over and they want to see the nursery!
How Does It Work?
The diaper genie pail is easy to operate, and does its job well. The lid opens and there is an opening that is lined with the plastic refill. You just push the diaper down in the opening, and once it gets to a certain point you stop and twist the plastic and it's sealed in there! And to empty it, you take an included ring that cuts the top of the refill liner. Then you tie it off for a new beginning. Then you just open the bottom, and out falls a long link of diapers (still wrapped up). And the wrap in the refill is even powder scented! This thing is great. And hey...there are many imitations on the market, but take it from me, this one is the BEST!
I know someone that purchased one of the imitations, and let me tell you, her nursery smells like a dirty diaper. And even when I tried to put a diaper in it, I absolutely could not figure out how to work the stupid thing! So I am very thankful for the diaper genie. And yes, you have to buy certain refills, but let me tell you, IT'S WORTH IT if you want an "odor-free" environment for you, your baby and company!
Maintaining REALLY Odor Free Nursery
I have read reviews and comments galore about the Genie NOT being Odorless...well, they never promised ZERO ODOR, just some help with odor. And the Genie upholds that claim as far as I'm concerned. Nothing will keep your diaper pail ODORLESS 100% except zero dirty diapers!
Also, I have read that people put the diaper in and only twist the ring one time...that won't work people! When you put a diaper in the Genie, you have to twist the ring like 3 or 4 times. That may mean a little extra effort on your part, but if you really want the odor sealed, you'll take the time to do this. I always twist the ring 3 to 4 times when I place a dirty diaper in there, and there is no odor in my nursery.
The only time I smell any odor is when I open the Genie, top or bottom. But that is normal because how can odor be sealed if it's open?? It can't, plain and simple. So please don't judge the Genie by it's odor sealing capabilities by whether the lid is open or closed. Chances are, if you twist the ring 4 times and keep the lid closed, there will be no stinky nursery!!
I highly recommend this product to any expectant moms that haven't decided which pail to purchase or register for. It really is the best one out there! I love mine! And will definitely use it again! ;-)
