Pros: Cleans very well, when it works. Easy to install.
Cons: Mechanical problems.
The Bottom Line: I believe the Polaris Cleaner has the potential to be an excellent cleaner. Buy it from a reputable dealer that will stand behind you, the customer if problems arise.
I bought the Polaris 65 this summer, in June. After 5 years of vacuuming I felt I deserved an automatic cleaner. I asked questions, went to pool displays and watched the Polaris as well as other pool cleaners at work. I was most impressed with the Polaris.
Installing was a breeze and I was very happy with results but soon afterward it started curling up next to the pool wall and staying there. One of the jets on the back was not working. I took it to Pool Pro and they tried it out jiggled some parts and declared it fixed. But here we are again, against the wall. Both back jets have quit working. I called Pool Pro and was adamant about getting it replaced or a refund. They refuse to exchange it, refuse to refund my money, and say they can fix it. After more conversation I was told that there had been some problems with the Polaris and they would replace the inside assembly if I would wait on parts. They also said I must wait on a new top to come in to replace the clear blue one with a gray one. I don't know what the top has to do with the working mechanisms but I intend to find out. In the mean time my Polaris is curled up, I'm manually cleaning and I feel like I've been taken for over $200.00.
If you buy a Polaris be sure you discuss the warranty and know your dealer's customer service attitude. I don't doubt the cleaners ability to do a great job, if you get one that works.
