The polaris 65 came with our pool so I cannot comment on the price. It can be ackward removing the hose and unit before swimming, however if you are like me and the though of spending your saturday vaccumeing the pool is dreadfull. This unit cleans everything sooooo well you wont belive it.
One of the biggest benifits of this unit is that it does not suck the debris into your filter, there is a bag on the end of the hose and hooked to your RETURN, jets blow the debris and insects into the bag for collection later. Most robots use the pools suction to work and drag all the debris right into your filter and shorten the sands effectiveness, not this puppy.
The only maintance to the unit is you will have to replace the nylon bag after a few seasons. There is a small filter strainer to keep particles from jamming up in the unit that needs to be chacked on occasion. The unit will occasionaly get cought in a back and forth spin but this will fix itself eventually or you can push the hose a little and it will motor on. The unit will not go behing a ladder but I am not sure any unit will without getting cought up in it.
This would be your best purchase for an above ground pool hands down. Other than that turn on your filter and you tell me how clean Your pool is.
