evolmootion's Full Review: Polaroid I-Zone Pocket Film Camera
I saw the Izone in the gift ideas section of the site and thought I would share my experience.
I love the Izone. I first purchased it 2 summers ago for friend as a fun toy. We were a bunch of single girls who just rented a beach house. We hit the town each night with our trusty camera and took pictures of our fellow beach bums.
Ever go out to a bar and think "I wish I had a camera?"
Well, this one can go with you. When you make new friends, or just need a quick snap of something funny it simply perfect.
After taking a few pictures a night, we would then place then in a diary and explain how our night went.
It didn't stop at nights, it turned into walks at the beach, the boardwalk at night, parties. You name it and the Izone came with us.
After an exceptionally fun summer we were able to look back and in detail remember every detail of it. We just stuck the Izone pics right next to our diary entry.
The film is easy to load once you read the directions, and fun to pull out of the camera once you take a pic. There is a small tab you pull and the picture slides out of the camera. Like any other Polaroid, you just wait for the image to appear.
I have never had a problem with battery life.
On the downside, the film can be a bit pricey. Sometimes friends can take the camera and snap shots of random things, and you want to scream because you are adding up the dollars in your head.
The pics can also come out a bit blurry if you aren't in a well lit place. All this can be fixed if you just check out your surroundings before taking the shot. Try to stay upclose to your subject. YOu won't get really good scenic shots. I think its more for headshots and fun photos, than sunsets and vacation photos.
There is also no counter on the camera, so just keep an eye on the pics for the number you are on.
Tips: Check out Ebay for accessories such as the Webster. Its a mini scanner for your pics. I love it, but keep in mind your pics are polaroids, so the quality isn't as perfect as it would be with a digital camea, or scanning off of a traditional print.
Also look for film at places like Costco or Sams Club. Its cheaper there. Sometimes you can catch a deal on Ebay for that as well.
Add one of those long key rings to your camera so you can wear it around your neck. (Similar to the things that lifeguards attach their whistles to)
Keep a memory book. You won't regret it. The Izone will bring you many smiles for years to come.
