gothy's Full Review: Polaroid I-Zone Pocket Film Camera
I was given an i-Zone camera as a gift, and while I prefer digital photography, the near-instant gratification of a Polaroid and the novelty of a tiny sticker print have motivated me to use the camera once in a while. A friend told me that the Webster was $10 or so at my local drugstore, so I picked one up on a whim.
The unit itself is about the size of a softball. To scan an image, you simply place it over the photograph (or anything else that size) and press a button. The scan is stored in the Webster's memory and is transferred to a PC using a serial cable and software, both of which are included.
The image quality is surprisingly decent, for such a small, inexpensive scanner. The package includes a couple of cute graphics programs which allow you to edit the images, add them to calendars, give them borders or captions, etc. The programs can also be used with images from other sources.
Overall, I have no complaints. The product line is geared toward children and teenagers, though I'm sure most adults would get a kick out of it too.
Please note: the unit takes four AA batteries. I haven't used it enough to find out exactly how long the batteries last.
