About Me: I'm back after a nearly year long break!

The moisturizer that keeps on giving

Written: Oct 08 '04
Pros:Lasts forever, soft skin, great price!
Cons:It doesn't come in a pump jar
The Bottom Line: This is hands down my favorite moisturizer. It's a role model for all other moisturizers! I highly recommend it.

What Pond's Says:
This extra-rich moisturizing cream replenishes your skin's natural oils, leaving it smooth and glowing.

Ingredients:
Water, Mineral Oil, Isopropyl Palmitate, Petrolatum, Glycerin, Stearic Acid, Ceresin, Glyceryl Stearate, Cetyl Alcohol, Sorbitan Oleate, Candeilla Wax, Triethanolamine, Laureth-23, Fragrance, Carbomer, Disodium Edta, DMDM Hydantoin, Methylparaben, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate.

Expectations:
I picked this product up on a whim. I was looking for a moisturizer to replace a different moisturizer (that I also picked up on a whim) that was simply too runny. Sometimes generic brand just doesn't cut it, does it? Pond's had one of the cheaper moisturizers for the quantity in the jar, so I went with it. Given the fact I didn't know anything about the product, I just wanted it to be a thicker moisturizer that would leave my skin soft yet not greasy.

The jar:
The jar is a clearish plastic with a blue lid. It has the Pond's logo on the front with a pretty gold flower. Awwww. The jar contains 10.1 oz of moisturizer. Pretty simple. The jar I have does look different from the picture that Epinions has listed. I believe the jar I have is a larger size, but it is still the same Pond's Dry Skin Cream.

How it feels:
The moisturizer is nice and thick so it doesn't fall off your fingers or face before you rub it in. It goes on smooth and disappears into your skin leaving it soft and dewy. It doesn't feel remotely greasy or heavy, which is a great thing!

How it moisturizes:
If I ever have a dry spot on my face - and I do frequently in the winter - Pond's zaps the dryness away lickity-split. I used to dread winter days when I would wake up with dry skin so severe I couldn't wear makeup because it would be all flakey and quite unappealing. With Pond's, I never worry about this anymore. The lasting power is great - it will last all day, no problem. If you are exposing your face to extreme conditions, you may need to reapply if your face feels a bit dry.

Other Pros:
This jar has lasted me forever. It's been over a year, and works just as great as the day I got it. I have about a third of it left, still. There's a mild fragrance to the lotion that's hard to explain. I don't like smelling the lotion from the jar, but when I put the lotion on the fragrance is very light and muted so that I don't mind it at all.

Cons? Aww, shucks - there is one.
The only problem I have with this lotion is that it comes in a jar, not a pump. When I have my nails done, and I have to dip my fingers into the jar to get the lotion I hate the feeling of having something under my nails. Granted, it's easy to wash away but I would prefer the lotion in a pump bottle.
