The only thing my daughter asked Santa to bring her this year was a puppy, she not only asked him once but twice, a few weeks apart. We already have a cat, so we were not getting a puppy. While shopping one day at Walmart, I ran across Poo-Chi. Woo Hoo ~ a puppy!!!
This gift wasn't wrapped, but set proudly under the tree waiting for the eyes of a 5 year old to see. To say we weren't disappointed when she say it would be an understatement. She was so excited and kept saying "Santa did bring me a puppy, not a real one, but still a puppy".
The first thing you have to do when you get Poo-Chi is install those batteries, 3 AAA. Then you have to read the directions, well actually just mom and dad need to do that. Kids just start pushing the button on his head and giving his bone to him (actually you just have to hold it up in front of his month).
Poo-Chi's eyes tell you how he is feeling, when he is happy, they are shaped like hearts. When Poo-Chi is sad, they are half slits, and when he is excited they blink (wide open and flashing). Poo-Chi has 3 different sensors that allow you to interact with him. The light sensor, which is where his nose is, you can hold your hand there and move it away and he will respond. There is a sound sensor, which can be activated by clapping your hands or making a loud noise. Last there is the touch sensor, which is the button on top of his head.
Poo-Chi does do a lot of barking, but if you just leave him a lone he will go to sleep. Sometimes it will take a while for this to happen because he will keep making noises trying to get your attention. If this doesn't work after a while he will sit down and start to snore, and if the snoring doesn't work he will fall into a deep sleep. To wake him from a deep cleep, you push the button on top of his head.
Our favorite thing to make Poo-Chi do is to sing a song. This can be done by holding your hand in front of his nose and pushing the button on top of his head 5 times quickly. After you do this you will ear 3 hort beeps and then you push the button on his head again between 1 and 6 times, to hear different songs.
There are some cons to this toy, Poo-Chi likes to bark!! That is how he interacts (he's a dog, what did you expect). He comes with a bone, and then they tell you not to put the bone in his mouth but hold it out in front of him. This is hard to explain to kids, who know a dog's bone goes in his mouth. However, these cons are small in my opinion and shouldn't discourage you from purchasing this toy.
