| BeeCharmer's Full Review: Pooh - 24-Inch Kanga and Roo |
Meet Kanga and Roo, the mother-son duo from the beloved Winnie the Pooh stories. A lovable, child-like character; Roo is the jovial, carefree little kangaroo who is most often found by Tigger’s side when a bit of mischief is afoot. And Kanga is always there to comfort and offer guidance to her young joey when he comes bouncing back to the safety of her pouch.
Kanga and Roo
Kanga, the mother figure, stands at 24 inches and rests upon a slightly curved, large tail; as well as her typically enormous kangaroo feet. Made of a soft plush material, Kanga temptingly sits waiting to be petted and loved. Kanga is a brownish-rust color, with pink accents upon her abdomen and ears. But the nicest aspect of this stuffy is the securely sown facial features; such as her eyes, lashes, nose, and brows. The Kanga figure has a red mouth accent and fuzzy black nose and eyebrows. Her plastic eyes are slightly embedded and securely sown upon the facial material, as are her other features.
Kanga touts a friendly disposition with her wide smile and outstretched arms, as if awaiting the hug of each child who would become her friend. And boy does she get hugged and cuddled!
The Roo figure is just as nicely constructed, with only the top half of his body peeking out from Kanga’s pink, felt pouch. Roo is made of similar materials, although on a much smaller scale, and adorned with a blue t-shirt. Roo also touts a big smile upon his face and well-attached eyes, brows, and nose made of black cloth.
One complaint about this figure's construction, Roo does not come loose of his mother’s pouch. Well-stitched to the larger figure of his mother, no amount of tugging can separate them. While an older child may not find this frustrating, my little one gets relatively upset that the small kangaroo figure will not come out to play with her.
Overall Thoughts
This type of high-priced stuffy is not something I would have purchased for my littlest cherub, it was a gift. And honestly, the $40 price tag I have since seen it listed for was surprising. Although of excellent quality, it is a stuffed animal intended for youngsters.
Another factor of my contention is the inability to clean this item in the washer, due to its overall size. At just over a year old, my daughter enjoys Kanga and Roo… But it is rough and rugged play at her age, and the sheer size of this stuffy makes it a troublesome item to tote around above floor level.
There is a saving grace, however, as the figure’s materials can be spot cleaned quite well. And pet hair comes off relatively quickly with a few swipes of a lint brush. But personally, I believe this lovable stuffy is just a tad too cumbersome and high maintenance for one so very young.
While sweet and cuddly, I would recommend this duo for an older child over the age of three, as well as for Winnie the Pooh collectors who have the space and desire for such a large item.
