I decorated my daughter's nursery in both the classic and traditional Winnie The Pooh. I was also in search of Pooh toys that she would enjoy playing with. I searched every store for anything Pooh related. I found plenty, but one of my favorite Pooh items would have to be the Baby's First Pooh.
Cost
I purchased this adorable Pooh at my local Wal-Mart for $9.99. They also sell Eeyore, Piglet & Tigger as well for the same price. Any of these plush toys can be found at most discount stores and even a select few grocery stores. Just check the toy isles.
So Soft & Cuddly!
My daughter absolutely loves this toy! We take Pooh with us in the car, in the grocery store, to the grandparents. She loves to chew on him, drag him when she crawls, and basically just love the stuffing out of him!
The fact that Pooh is so soft, I don't have to worry about her hitting herself in the head and hurting herself like I do with other toys. Most toys are either made of hard plastic or have hard pieces such as eyes or noses that can hurt baby. My daughter is famous for bonking herself in the head with toys. There isn't anything on Pooh that could hurt her, no matter how many times she bangs it on her head, arms or other various body parts.
Several friends of mine have little ones who love to sleep with this little guy. My daughter isn't quite old enough to sleep with stuffed animals yet (SIDS foundation recommends younger infants not sleeping with stuffed animals, etc.), but I'm sure when she gets a little older, Pooh will be her sleeping companion of choice.
Pooh is definitely a cutie. His eyes and nose are stitched, so there are no small pieces that could come off and pose a choking hazard. He looks like the traditional Pooh right down to his bright red shirt.
Durable & Washable
You can throw Pooh in the wash..but I would definitely put him in one of those bags used for delicate clothing. While he is quite durable, his bright red shirt could turn a dingy pink if washed enough.
My daughter, as mentioned above, loves to "play" with this toy often. Her idea of "playing" is quite different than mine. I.E. chewing, throwing, banging, tossing, rolling on, dragging. Through it all Pooh has held up wonderfully.
Overall Opinion
I would highly recommend Baby's First Pooh to anyone looking for a soft and durable toy for their younger infant. My daughter has enjoyed hers for quite some time now, and I've never had to worry about hard plastic pieces or choking hazards. This Pooh is versatile enough so that even young babies will enjoy him!
