| michelle7898's Full Review: Pooh - Electronic Poppin' Piano |
I purchased the Pooh - Electronic Poppin' Piano for my sixteen month old daughter Emmily only a few months ago. I got it at Toys R Us for only 16.99. A great buy for a Pooh toy as some tend to cost a lot.
My daughter loved it right away and began playing with it for hours. She loved the music and the way the keys made Pooh and his friends move up and down.
This toy requires 4 AA batteries not included with purchase. You will need a phillips head screw driver to open and close the battery case located at the bottom of the toy.
The Pooh - Electronic Poppin' Piano plays a variety of songs such as Winnie The Pooh Theme, Happy Birthday, Looby Loo, Row your Boat, Polly Wolly Doodle, Old MacDonald, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and Rock-a-Bye Baby. These songs are all just music with no words in them. To play them my daughter just presses down on a key and it plays the song it is assigned to as well as moving the assigned Pooh or Pooh friend. Such as..
Pressing Pooh will play The Pooh Theme.
Pressing Piglet will Play the Happy Birthday song and so on like that.
The keys are red for Pooh, pink for Piglet, orange for Tigger, gray for Eeyore, yellow for rabbit, blue for Roo, and Purple for Kanga. Pooh and his friends are each surrounded by a circle indicating the same color as the key you have to push to play their song and make them go in and out of their holes. It is very cute and my daughter loves playing with it.
The micro phone is supposed to amplify the voice which speaks into it and project the voice from the speaker. It does not. It either sounds muffled or is all static, and if you move further away you can't speak into it at all because it's cord is way too short.
I felt the need to let you all know of the recall notice on the Pooh - Electronic Poppin' Piano. The following is compliments of Hasbro.com:
SAFETY RECALL NOTICE
POOH POPPIN' PIANO TOY
Tiger Electronics Offers Free Replacement of Toy
Model Number 87-001 with serial numbers starting with "WT" and :"CO15D" ONLY (Toys R Us SKN #535567)
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Tiger Electronics, Ltd. of Vernon Hills, IL is voluntarily recalling to replace approximately 202,000 units of POOH POPPIN' PIANO. The green "leafy" top section of the carrot-shaped microphone attached to the piano toy can break off, posing a choking hazard to young children.
To date, Tiger has received 3 reports of the leafy top of the microphone breaking off. There have been no reports of injuries.
The piano toy is designed for children between 2 and 6 years old and is mostly lime green with eight characters from the "Winnie the Pooh" series that move up and down in response to pressing down corresponding piano keys. The orange and green microphone attaches to the piano with a short cord that amplifies sound. The toy announces 8 color names, and plays piano sounds and 8 pre-programmed childrens' songs.
The serial number is printed in two places: on a small label located inside the battery compartment and on the bottom of the retail package. Only products with serial numbers starting with the letters "WT" or "CO15D" are affected.

The fact of the recall and the fact that the micro phone really does not work doesn't really make much difference. My daughter did not play with the micro phone any way so I just cut it out and now she just continues to have a blast playing with the Pooh - Electronic Poppin' Piano with out it.
There are a few different modes you can set on this piano. You can play the songs, or switch it so it plays notes when you press the keys your self so you can make songs on your own. And you turn it off by the same button. It is located on the right side of the toy on the top just beside the purple key.
My daughter loves it. She can play with it for hours. She even presses Happy Birthday if you tell her to and does not mistake it for any other key. She said Purple to Kanga, and Geen to Owl which is right. She has learned a few thing from this toy so far and I hope she will continue to learn more.
I highly recommend that all Pooh fans have one. My daughter has claimed it as one of her favorites. Just be sure to check the recall or simply cut off the microphone as I did. It really serves no purpose and the toy is great enough with out it.
Out of a 10 being the highest I rate the Pooh - Electronic Poppin' Piano a 9.
