| jcr266's Full Review: Porter-Cable 1-1/4" Brad Nailer and 2HP Compressor... |
Just bought this compressor and brad nailer. I needed a smaller unit than the big one i have already. The big compressors work great for large jobs or working on cars and painting. the problem with a large compressor is they are to big to move around to each site you want to use it.
I bought the brad nailer and compressor combination because i wanted a small compressor and this package was the best deal i found. Porter cable is well know for their tools and you can get parts and nails almost any where. This is a big plus if you ever need to replace something or need to buy nails.
The compressor has to break in for 15 minutes before you use it. All you do is run it right out of the box. After the 15 minutes you close a valve on the bottom of the tank to let the pressure build up. The kit comes with a brad nailer and hoses with the connectors. The hose and nailer use fast connectors. All you do is pull the sleeve and they come apart. It took me 20 minutes to get set up with this new set. The nailer is light and small enough to use in tight spots. The power can be adjusted by a valve on top of the compressor. This lets you set how deep you want the brad nails driven into the material you are nailing. the brad nailer comes with a case that you can store your nails in and oil for you nail gun. The oil and a pair a safety glasses are in the case when you buy it. You should always put a few drops of oil in any air tool before you use it. The kit even has teflon tape for all the fittings. you just run a piece of tape around the threads of the fitting and screw it together. This makes it air tight.
Make sure to always have the compressor turned off before you plug it in. the switch is on top and easy to read. Some compressors use so much power if they are on and you plug it in you can melt the plug on the tool. You will melt one of the prongs on the plug if you don't turn it off before you plug it in.
This is a complete set that has everything you need even 2,000 brad nails to start with. A brad nailer is like a finish nailer but a little smaller. Most people will never need a finish nailer they can use a brad nailer for almost all projects. The finish nailer adds a extra $50 to this kit.
The tool works great no problem of any kind. The only thing i would like them to do is put a handle on it to carry it easier. The handle is on top but it is plastic and not like some of the other compressors handles. That is the only complaint i have about this unit.
Would i buy it again yes i would. I use this all the time and it works great. Last week i used over 6,000 brad nails and no problem with it. I use my tools every day and they are put to the test. So i will be the first to tell you if it works or if it's junk.
Hope you like my opinions i say it like it is no long winded story just plain and to the point. You can read more of my opinions by clicking on jcr266 opinions.
