While in Florida we stayed at several hotels so that we could experience the different atmospheres and pools, etc. We stayed at the Portofino Bay Hotel our first day in Florida so we could go to Universal Studios. At check-in the line was very long and the lady at the counter was not only grumpy and rude but did not give us all of the information we needed to access our passes to Universal Studios. The rooms were ok but nothing to rave about especially for the price. We decided to take the boat over to Universal and walked down to the dock to wait. We were waiting for a very long time when a passerby came and said the boats had been closed due to storms coming in. The hotel failed to post any notice or anything so we could have waited all day if not for this kind person! We then walk back to the front of the hotel to catch the shuttle bus and the valet guys and other workers have no idea what time the next shuttle will be arriving. It ended up raining most of the afternoon so we decided to go and walk around under the covered areas to see the shops and found out quickly that the shops were all closed already. It was in the evening (not late or anything) and we were all very disappointed. We woke up the next morning and went to the continental breakfast and had trouble finding anywhere to sit because it was so packed and so little seating.
