Poor Service at the Portofino

Pros:Nice Decor, good restaurants, boat ride to universal
Cons:Poor Service, long lines, slow shuttle
The Bottom Line: Overall, I would say that this hotel was descent. If the choice is to stay at Disney or Universal, I would choose Disney.
I was not that impressed with the Portofino. While in Orlando we stayed in multiple hotels and this was easily the most expensive we stayed at. I had pretty high expectations. The rooms were nice and having the Universal Express Pass(which allows for front of the line access at Universals two parks) was great. We also loved the Character Meal at the Trattoria del Porto which is only available on Fridays. The food there was amazing and the characters were a lot of fun for the kids.
However, the service was terrible. It took at least a half hour to check in, we had to call to get our TV fixed and that took an hour, our wake up call never came, and the operator could never answer any of our questions. The shuttle service to Universal also took almost an hour.
We only stayed at this hotel one night. Had we stayed a few more, maybe we would have enjoyed it more. We didn't get to go to the pool, but I did check it out and it looked really nice. The rain kept us out of it. If you are looking for a great pool though, try the Hyatt Grand Cypress.
