Get It Signed The First Time With Post-It “Sign Here” Message Flags
Written: Nov 19 '03 (Updated Nov 19 '03)
Pros:Easy to use, 50 per pack, pop up dispenser, can be reused.
Cons:Edges will tear if handled roughly.
The Bottom Line: Get it signed the first time and eliminate the office run around with Post-It “Sign Here” Message Flags!
Post-It products are a great way to leave messages for people, remind yourself of meetings or functions and to get yourself organized, even on the smallest of levels. Taking organization to a whole new level, the series of message flags are inexpensive, can be beneficial for offices of any size and come in a variety of styles, sizes, colors and text phrases. Large offices can benefit from these message flags when signatures are needed since it will help to cut down on the amount of unnecessary interoffice mail and smaller offices can use these to ensure that people have all seen, signed and passed on memos, letters or other important documents. The Sign Here variety from Post-It come in a pack of fifty, have a bight yellow tab and red lettering telling someone exactly where to sign. In case they are a little slower than the rest of the pack, the directional arrow shows them exactly where to put their John Hancock.
Post-It Sign Here Message Flags
Packaged in their own individual dispenser, these are an indispensable part of my office. When I was in the middle of my divorce, these helped save my sanity. How you ask? It was one less word I had to utter to my soon-to-be ex-husband and pretty much guaranteed that the papers we were passing back and forth to each other had all the required signatures need by our respective attorneys. Between our personal items, the house, vehicles, custody issues and a mountain of other things that needed sorted out, signatures were needed on every few pages so I could stick these tabs on the edges of the pages where he needed to sign and avoid having to sit at the table with him. The small arrow points in the direction where the signature is needed so all I needed to do was leave a small part of the tab on the edge of the paper. While this didnt completely eliminate the need for face-to-face meetings, it did cut down on the amount of time were had to spend in each others presence.
While these are traditionally used on the edges of papers, you can place them anywhere you like. You can use the blank Post-It message flags on the edges to let people know the pages that need attention then mark the specific areas where they are to sign. If more than one signature per page is needed or several people will need to sign the stack, use the colored blank tabs on the edges so people will know to look for a certain color in the stack. While this might sound a little complicated, it is easier to do things this way than to have to hunt people down or pester them about signatures. If need be, the tabs can be written on with a permanent marker or ball point pen and tossed in the trash when they have served their purpose.
Things To Know
If handled carefully these can be reused a few times but after five or six applications the edges might start to get tattered or the sides start to rip. I have a piece of thick clear plastic that was originally purchased for making Shrinky Dinks, I punched holes in the side of it using my handy three hole punch and slide this into the three ring binder where I keep laminated sales cards. I can keep the semi-used tabs there when I need them and when I am traveling back and forth between the two offices; I can have a variety of tabs with me without having to carry fifteen different dispensers.
These are priced at about $2.00 per pack but if you want to save money invest in the multi packs. Some have an assortment of text messages and others come with the blank tabs. You can pick these up on sale a few times a year and since they have a long shelf life, theres no chance of the gummed surface drying out as long as the tabs stay connected to each other. And speaking of the gummed surface, these message flags lift off easily and leave no residue. I wouldnt use these for extended periods of time on sensitive documents or anything that has a personal value since you never know when the paper might react to the gumming over time but I have had these tabs on papers for a long time with no problem.
The Bottom Line
These message flags are a great time saver and great for offices both large and small. For the price I consider them a great value and highly suggest them to anyone that conducts business that requires signatures, contracts or deals with time sensitive items that need to be 100% in check.
