| dlstewart's Full Review: Post-it Translucent Pop-Up Note Dispensers for 2-7... |
I am a Post-It Note fan. Since I am in the midst of learning a new job, I have pretty well wall-papered my desk and computer monitor with reminders of all the details involved with my job. The Post-It Translucent Pop-up Note Dispenser in Blue makes grabbing a sticky note even easier.
Description
This dispenser measures 3 5/8" wide x 3 5/8" deep x 1 7/8" high. The top of the dispenser is a medium-light translucent blue color ... see through to the notes inside. The bottom of the dispenser is white.
The top blue section is in two parts, divided in half horizontally. The part closest to the user is fixed to the white bottom and does not come off. However, the other half of the dispenser top slides off, enabling one to fill the dispenser with pop-up Post-It Notes. Once the two halves of the dispenser top are together, the Post-It Notes feed out the slit in the center.
Along the bottom of the dispenser are two 3" long strips of textured rubber, which act as non-skid feet to keep the dispenser from moving. If the dispenser is shaken, it rattles, leading me suspect that the base is filled with a weighted material. This translucent dispenser is available with the top in three different color choices: blue, green or purple.
My Experiences
This translucent blue Post-It dispenser looks great on my desk. In some ways it reminds me of a box of tissues ... pull a Post-It Note out of the dispenser, and another Post-It sheet pops up, ready to be plucked.
The downside to this dispenser is that I cant write on the Post-It Note while it is in the dispenser. On a flat pad, I can write my note while it is on the pad. Using the dispenser, I have to pull off a Post-It Note before I write on it. Usually this does not cause a problem. As a rule, I pluck a sticky note and fasten it to another piece of paper or file folder (or to my desk or the computer monitor!).
Replacing the Post-It Notes in the dispenser is relatively easy. Since the dispenser is translucent, I can see into it to know when the Post-It Notes are running out. Using my thumbs, I push open the top half of the dispenser lid. Then I slide the pop-up Post-It Notes into the dispenser, pushing them down as they are inserted. Once the notes are in place, slide the top half of the dispenser back into position. My dispenser makes this a tiny bit of a challenge since the dispenser lid is a snug fit. I have to align the lid just right so that it slips straight back in place.
The textured rubber strips on the bottom of the dispenser are great grabbers. This dispenser does not move on my desk unless I physically lift it. In a pinch, this dispenser makes a fine paperweight, though I dont put it to that use too often. With whatever is placed in the base by the manufacturer, it definitely adds heft to it. I dont have to worry about this dispenser shifting when I pull a sticky note from it.
Purchasing
This dispenser was purchased from a local office supply store for about $8.00.
It refills with regular 3" x 3" Post-It Pop-up Notes, which cost $8.19 at Staples for a 6-pack (or $1.37 each). The pop-up notes cost a bit more than traditional Post-It Notes in a flat pad. Staples sells a 5-pack of flat Post-It Notes for $6.19 (or $1.24 each).
Summary
I like this Post-It Translucent Pop-up Note Dispenser in Blue. It stays in place, and offers a continuous supply of Post-It Notes ... and I use a lot of Post-It Notes! Which brings me to mention the one negative about this dispenser. If you are cost conscious, then supplying this dispenser with pop-up Post-It Notes will cost more than using a flat pad of Post-It Notes. Something to consider.
