Why buy one?
Driven by price, I chose to purchase this amplifier for my car system. I needed something strong enough to power my 12" Alpine Type S subwoofers, but I didn't feel like spending all the cash on a name. Big names like Rockford, Kenwood, and MTX want so much more money for this type of amp. I spent very little money compared to these other brands. Honestly, I cannot make out the difference.
The specs:
This thing is one powerful amplifier. It is MOSFET protected but never have experienced overheating or shutoff yet. I have owned mine for about 6 months now and no problems. It is a bit long, but that is to be expected with the amount transistors for the power it produces. The THD is very low and I cannot make out any "hiss" on good recordings. It drives my speakers almost effortlessly. In fact, I am more concerned with my speakers not being up to par in order to handle the power from this amplifier. It connects fairly easily and has many features onboard including: bass boost, gain, rca in/out x 2, frequency response, and a filter.
Looks:
As far as looks are concerned, the device is sleek and silver/gray in color. The amplifier has an aggressive modern look to it and has a eye pleasing blue diode on the top of the unit. At night, the whole trunk lights up when this amp is turned on.
Cons:
The only bad thing I can say about it is that it doesn't have an anti-thump circuit.
*UPDATE*
Still have the same unit in the back of the car and is still running like a champ! Still love it after all these months. It has been close to a year now and still haven't experienced overheating or shutoff. In fact, it runs better than my Pioneer amp I have running within my system! The Pioneer has had constant issues involving cold weather and cutout. There is some sort of issue with a particular electronic component within the Pioneer amp, causing the amp to shut down when the temperature is about 35 degrees and below. Not acceptable! Pioneer wants a pile of money to service it as well. So in my car it sits. The moral of the story is, name isn't always everything and you don't always get what you pay for.
*UPDATE 2*
I still am running this amplifier powering my Alpine 12" subs. Wow! This thing is so stable. No shut down yet! It will be almost a year now since I have purchased this amp. I love it so much I purchased a second one for another installation.
