I bought this game for my step son. Of all the rod hockey games sold today this one is the most like the old "Coleco" game I played as a young boy.

The game needed assembled, but I didn't find putting it together very difficult. Getting the right and left handed players in the right slots should not be overlooked.
The game itself looks nice and plays well. The players are 3D plastic and are very nicely painted. The playing surface is plastic along with the sides enclosing it. After scoring a goal the puck drops down into a little cup under the game. So far we have found no dead spots. No matter where the puck is someones player can reach it. There are clear plastic shields that protrude up from the ends of the game. Still the puck will fly off the playing surface from time to time. I did lubricate the player rods with a paper towel and some WD-40 to help the rods slide smoother.
Upon assembly two player's hockey sticks were slightly scraping the playing surface. This is a common problem with the less expensive games. Including the more expensive "Stiga" game. I used a file and removed a little material from the bottom of the hockey sticks and they are now fine.
The game has two little score keepers. One red for the red team and the other blue for the blue team. They aren't automatic, but they do help you to keep score.
One big plus is that "Irwin" offers replacement parts for this game. So if something breaks or gets worn out you do not have to buy a whole new game.
Everything considered I am pleased with this game. It seems to be well made. The puck can really fly around the rink. It's a fast action game that our whole family enjoys!
