What can I say? I've been on a nutritional bar kick lately, trying to discover what the best one will be for my body and me. While I have been trying everything under the sun, I still end up back at my good old Luna Bar. Almost a year ago, I saw this new Power Bar in the store and decided to give it a try since I have tried everything else. Read on to see why I have been hooked by this bar since then...
~ PowerBar Pria ~
“Deliciously Smarter Nutritional Energy Snack Bar”
These bars are actually quite small compared to other nutritional bars. The net weight is .98 oz. (28g) per bar. I was expecting them to be small, but this was a little smaller than what I believed they were. I bought these bars on sale at Eckerd’s for 2/$1.50. The regular price there was about $.99 a bar. These can be bought at any drug store or discount store (Target, K-Mart). I just recently purchased some of these bars in Target on sale for $.89. And have gotten them previously there for $.69. Good deal!

~*~ My Thoughts ~*~
What was the best part about this bar? Easy question! It would have to be the taste. Eating this bar was like eating a regular granola bar. I bought three flavors in this particular bar, Chocolate Peanut Crunch, French Vanilla Crisp, and Double Chocolate Cookie and was equally impressed with all of them. The French Vanilla Crisp was definitely my favorite! It tasted just like eating a candy bar with its vanilla flavoring, topped by little crisps and then covered in yogurt.
Yummy! The Chocolate Peanut Crunch was a combination of those little crisps along with peanut butter and coated with creamy chocolate. The Double Chocolate Cookie also tasted just like a granola bar with it’s makeup of crispy filling and chips, covered with a dark chocolate coating. And the chocolate tasted like actual chocolate, and did not have just a cheap imitation chalk taste. I’m telling you, this stuff just melted in your mouth and left absolutely no aftertaste.
One disappointment that I had was that this bar contained only 5g of protein. Compared to the previous bar that I reviewed, the Atkins Diet Advantage Bar, this is a significant drop in protein. But am I willing to eat the Atkins bar because it contains a lot of protein? Absolutely not! And I cannot stress that enough. The taste of the Power Bar Pria was phenomenal compared to that of the Atkins. And the other nutritional ingredients, such as calories and fat grams, were less than that of the Atkins bar. The Power Bar Pria is an excellent source of Iron and Calcium, which are two elements that I do not get enough of in my diet.
I love these bars so much, that I am off to the store to buy some more each week. Maybe I will try some of the other flavors, because they all sound so good!
Overall, I think I have finally found a nutritional bar that can compete with my Luna Bars. The Power Bar Pria contains less carbs than the Luna Bar, but also significantly less protein also. This may be one drawback with this bar. And of course that is along with the smaller size and high sugar content.
But I am just glad that I have found another nutritional bar besides the Luna Bar that I can actually stomach! So try these Power Bar Pria bars for an afternoon snack instead of picking up those chips or candy bars.
