Pros: 10 grams of protein, 2 grams impact carbs, good for low carb diets.
Cons: Not the best taste, too much chocolate - something I never thought I’d ever say!
The Bottom Line: A good thing to have on hand if you are doing a low carb diet but something that I’ll probably pass on in the future.

| Freak369's Full Review: Power Bar Powerbar Pria Carb Select Triple-Layer N... |
In the world of nutritional bars there are some that just dont cut it with me. Most of the time taste is something that places a huge part in the bars that I purchase but when I am deep into ketosis chances are Ill eat anything that even looks like chocolate if I am having a bad craving. There are two ways to just a bar like Pria CarbSelect - when you are on a diet and when you are off. I can almost guarantee that when you are just getting into a diet phase or are taking a break this wont be all that appealing to your taste buds but when you are deep into a diet and trying your hardest not to blow it, this tastes a whole hell of a lot better. I picked this up at the grocery store when they had them on sale for .79 cents a bar to try them out; I made the mistake of trying this when I was just getting back into my diet and it didnt taste all that appealing to me. Knowing that my taste buds were used to real chocolate I decided to give this another try about three weeks later; it did have a better taste but it was still something that didnt really impress me.
PowerBar Pria CarbSelect Carmel Nut Brownie
The bar has two layers; a brownie bottom with a chocolate coating - there is caramel in there somewhere but I think it gets lost with all the chocolate. You can taste it here and there but it isnt something that you pick up on right away. I was sort of hoping that this would have a Snickers type taste to it minus the whole peanuts but it didnt even come close to it. There is a little bit of an after taste once youve finished it or have had a couple of bites but to my surprise it wasnt as bad as I expected. Theres 1.69 ounces [48 grams] to each bar so that should be enough to hold you over until you can have a proper meal but this shouldnt be used as a meal replacement - on the off chance that you do like the taste of this, if you do try to use it as a meal replacement youll probably find yourself eating more than one of them and that defeats the whole purpose of it.
I really like the fact that this has ten grams of protein per serving [one bar] and that the net impact carbs are only two. When you read the panel it says that there are 21 grams of carbs but only one comes from sugar with 17 of them being from sugar alcohol which has a minimal impact on your blood sugar levels. This aspect of the bar makes it really appealing for those who are looking for a sweet snack without blowing their diet to hell however if you are a diabetic you are going to be going by a different set of standards than those who are buying this for the low carb appeal. I let the brood try this bar out and none of them liked the taste of it; almost all of them said that it had a fake taste to it but I can see how something like this would take on a completely different taste if you are doing a strict diet.
The Stats
Calories: 170
Serving: 1 bar
Fat: 8 grams
Protein: 10 grams
Carbohydrates: 21 grams
Sugar: 1 gram
Fiber 2 grams
Sugar Alcohol: 17 grams
I picked this bar up for .79 cents at the grocery store, it was on sale half off and to be completely honest, there is no way I would pay full price for something like this. I picked up a few different flavors when they were on sale but I am going hold off on trying them until I am back into a deep ketosis. Theres no sense in trying them now - chances are they arent going to have a great taste to them so why waste them? For those who are doing a strict diet or living a low carb lifestyle these bars can help when you have a craving or just want something sweet to snack on. For a better price you may want to try to buy them by the box but only after youve sampled the flavors and make sure that you really like them.
The Bottom Line
There arent many low carb bars that I flat out hate - to me this one is just packed with way too much chocolate. I am going to give this another chance when I am about three to four weeks into my diet; I am sure that this will have a much better taste then and I will update my review with that information. If you tried other Pria CarbSelect bars and liked their taste then you might like this one but if you are new to them, you might want to start with a different flavor or you might get put off completely by this one. I hate to sound negative about a bar like this because everyone has different taste buds but so far this really hasnt impressed me, that might change when I am back into the thick of my diet. This is better than just grabbing a candy bar or bag of chips but if it doesnt do anything for your craving you wont get an satisfaction from it and you might reach for something else. Like I said, that defeats the whole purpose of eating this bar in the first place.
As always, thanks for the read!
